Re: Replacement for stock cooler for i3-3225
Thanks, but it doesn't look like it will fit with the fan on top. I only have 115 mm to play with and it's 94mm before fan and they are typically 25. Even with a fan half that thick it's really pushing it and most likely limiting airflow if it does fit. I already have a Nexus and a Gentle Typhoon fa...

Re: Replacement for stock cooler for i3-3225
Max height including any fan is 4.5 inches or 115 mm. Max Width including fan centered on CPU 5 inches or 127 mm to the ram and side of case. Tall ram so nothing can go over it. Closest slot is empty. I can go much wider the other way so I can put any fan in this direction. I do not use the first PC...

Re: Replacement for stock cooler for i3-3225
The motherboard is a Gigabyte Z77-DS3H, I have no idea on the memory and the case is from Silverstone, but I don't know the model. It looks like a standard ATX desktop case (not a tower).
I don't want to play games with fans. I just want to replace the cooler.

Re: Replacement for stock cooler for i3-3225
I would like an inexpensive solution The stock cooler comes for free, how a replacement can be inexpensive? Moreover, usually it's not an heatsink fan to be noisy, but how you drive it: so how do you drive it? At any rate, you may give a look at the Arctic Cooling line-up, while a not-so-inexpensiv...

Replacement for stock cooler for i3-3225
I am running an HTPC, no overclock and the CPU really isn't stressed all that much. I got this more for the HD4000 graphics then the CPU power. I was just fine with the stock cooler until the fan started to make noise. I would like an inexpensive solution that would be around the stock cooler effici...

I took the PSU apart and had to cut the fan wire as it's soldered in. The fan is a Yate Loon with 88CFM. I spliced in a Yate Loon I had around the house that does 47 CFM. Air is not even close to warm coming out of the PSU and it is a bit less noisy. Looks like this was the best choice. Thanks All, ...

Re: Looking for an inexpensive CPU cooler 115mm or under
After remeasuring I think I can do 120mm and potentially a hair more in height.
I might also be able to widen my budget to $35 max.
Just continuing my search.

Re: Looking for an inexpensive CPU cooler 115mm or under
Newegg is down. This is the first time I have seen this.
The problem with these "Arctic Alpine 11 Pro or Plus" is that the reviews I have read are underwhelming.
It might be my only choice at my budget, but I want to investigate my options further.
Thanks,
Mark

Re: Looking for an inexpensive CPU cooler 115mm or under
A few minutes searching found $40 @ Quietpc. Might be others out there. Once you add shipping ($11.94) it's over $50. $30 is about my max, give or take a couple. Too bad about the Scythe stuff, because I am running one now and have owned others. Always found them to be a pretty good company. Thanks...

Re: $50 Budget for PSU. What is about the quietest I can ge
Nothing wrong with the Antec, except for it being louder than I would like. It isn't a screamer by any means. it's just the woosh of the airflow from the fan. I could do a fan swap, but the I don't know what kind of airflow range I should look at. I suspect the fan is due to smaller heat sinks used ...

$50 Budget for PSU. What is about the quietest I can get?
I have about $50 left in the budget for a new PSU for my HTPC. I am currently running an i3-3225, slightly under volted, AMD 5670, 4gb ddr 3, Gigabyte Z77DS3H motherboard. I know my load is under 300w, but for future expansion I was thinking 400w or more. I realize top line PSU's are out and many mi...

Need recommendation for 120mm x 20mm fan for cpu cooler
I just bought the Zalman CPNS10X Peroforma and the included 120mm x 25mm fan is just a little bit fat to fit in the correct position with my tall DDR3. A 20mm wide fan should do nicely. I think I would like to use the higher rpm versions as I can slow the fan down if they are too loud. The Zalman fa...

Is it safe to run 2 different sized PWM fans off one header?
I only have one 4 pin PWM fan header on my motherboard and I would like to try running 1 92mm and one 80mm off the same header. I am concerned it could cause issues. Has anyone tried this? I did try running the 80mm off a 3 pin and depending on which one I use I either get almost no speed or full sp...

I just put in the fans and to be honest I am disappointed with all of the S-Flex fans so far. It's still early and I have yet to test 7V. I have a week off from work coming and I think I will spend part of the time doing a fan overhaul of my HTPC. Passive 8600GT/GTS for HTPC
I am trying to decide on a passive 8600GT/GTS card. My main purpose will be HTPC with little to no game play. It must be HDPC compliant. Currently I am leaning towards the MSI GTS because at ZZF it is $170 shipped. This is only slightly more then the passive GT cards I have seen and almost $30 less ...

Zalman VU700-CU enough for a 7600GT?
I am upgrading my AGP 6600GT to a PCI-e 7600GT and I already have the Zalman VU700-CU VGA cooler.
Will that be enough to cool the new card.
No Games. It's going in an HTPC system.
Thanks,
Mark

It's really more about trying other fans. Of the "quiet" fans I have only ever tried the Yate Loon. I want to see if I can hear a difference between the higher CFM fans and the Yate. What would be higher CFM then the Yate Loon 120 + quiet
I would like to put a new fan in my Scythe Mine and I would like to compare it against my 120 Yate Loon fan to see if the potential bump in noise is worth the bump down in temp. If I wanted higher CFM then the Yate Loon, but still as quiet as possible what would be some choices. I have been looking ...

Add another fan @ 5V or increase the voltage to exhisting
I have space for at least one more 80mm fan.
My case is just now getting to the point I would consider almost quiet.
It is a little hot for my taste though.
My question on the noise vs airflow is should I add another
Yate Loon 80mm or increase the voltage of my other 2 Yate Loons to
12v?
Thanks,
Mark
