This seems like a good time/place to mention that for anyone who is interested in voting records of their representatives, http://www.govtrack.us/ is a great website to check on these folks. Power to the people. I wonder what Ted Stevens would think of this site...

The Thermalright SI-120 has been used pseudo-passively in this case. By that I mean that some people mount the heatsink and let airflow from the two side exhaust fans do the work.

 A 120mm fan that draws 20W?! How fast is it spinning at 12V??
Correction: .52A at 12v, so 6.24W

Sorry

I did the research before and word on the street is that the Sanyo Denki's have the nicest sound character. I have two, and they are pretty smooth.

Pro's: Very smooth character, great air pressure. No motor noise under 7V.

Con's: Not silent, even at 5V. Draw 20W at 12V.

I'm in the same place as you, but I've already purchased a SI-120 and 2 yate loons. I can't speak from firsthand experience, but it seems that with at least all (decent) s939matx boards, fin orientation DOES work well. The fins of the SI 120 run parallel to the 2 s939 mounting screws.

Thanks, I've surmised that. If it had slightly shorter pipes at the block area, and the ability to slide them through the block (unsoldered), it might work.

Damn shame. vf900 for now.

Check your thermal compound to see if you made good contact. That should tell you.

What card are you using?

I wondered that myself until I got my SI-120 in the mail. What I didn't notice in pictures I previously saw, is that there are two stabilizing supports opposite the heatpipes, which cut the space underneath the fins down to maybe 80mm wide or less. I don't have the HS in front of me now, so I can't ...

If anyone mounts this on a 7800gtx or card with similar dimensions, please post pics. I'm interested in clearance issues, particularly in a NSK2400. OR - Can anyone with the cooler answer whether the position of the heatpipes through the block is adjustable (can it slide in and out)? AND - how does ...
