Re: New 92mm-fan Tower Coolers from Noctua

How does the Noctua NH-D9L performance compare to the Scythe Ninja Mini? Better or worse? I currently have an Antec NSK2480 HTPC case with a Ninja Mini using only the two 120mm case fans on an Intel Core i7-4790K overclocked to 4.7GHz. It runs a little hotter than I'd like, though it doesn't thermal...

Re: A Tale of Two HTPC's

Thank you so much. I had no idea that this was even an option. I have an old Ninja Mini rev. B that I'm installing on a ASUS Z87M-PLUS LGA 1150 motherboard in my old Antec NSK2480 HTPC case. The push-pins on the Ninja Mini bracket work, but they don't feel particularly sturdy or reliable. A bolt-thr...

Re: A Tale of Two HTPC's

I mounted the mini-Ninja with a Thermalright 775 mounting kit, something I would recommend to anybody, as I truly detest the 775 push pin mounting. I know this is a really old thread, but can you elaborate on what you did with the mounting kit? I can't picture how you could adapt the existing heats...

Upgrade time: ASUS P8Z77-M OK with my old power supply?

I'm doing a major upgrade from a Core2Duo E5800 to a Core i5-2500K (swapping motherboard, cpu, memory). Everything else will be pretty much the same. I have an Antec NSK3480 Micro ATX case with the included EarthWatts 380 Watt ATX12v v2.2 power supply. I know the power supply is a bit on the small s...

Re: Is there a problem with head parks on WD Green HDDs?

I was unable to disable head parking with the WD30EZRS WD Green 3TB using WDIDLE3 1.0.5. Basically, using the wdidle3 /d switch and then running wdidle3 /r shows that the feature is disabled, but it had 0 effect. The LLC count went from 0 - 77 in 8 hours when the hard drive was not yet formatted an...

72 degrees with prime95 is too hot, if you have the backplate already installed, i'd be looking at how the thermal paste was applied. Yeah, people tend to go overboard on thermal paste. Due to the cable routing and airflow issues, I really recommend going with a full SATA drive setup if possible. PATA ribbon cables just don't cut it in this case.

Are you using a PWM fan on your CPU heatsink? I'm very happy with mine, it only ramps up under load.

Very clean job! How'd you get the ATX power connector through the grommet(s)? It won't fit straight-on, so you just pull all the wires to one side of the the connector and push it through long-ways. It's pretty obvious, if you think about it, but I can take a picture to illustrate if you'd like.

Asus P5E-VM HDMI + Arctic Cooling AF12025 PWM = problems :(

I'm having an issue trying to use an Arctic Cooling AF12025 PWM fan on my Asus P5E-VM HDMI. It's a 4-pin PWM fan and I have it installed on the Thermalright HR-01 plus heatsink on my CPU. Sorry about that. I actually didn't notice that when I wrote it. I just looked at the newegg pics and assumed my card had a 4-pin header. Then when I installed the Accelero I noticed that it's only a 2-pin job.
