Small update on my replaced Antec SmartPower2 PSU. It's been about 7 months since the RMA, and it's making a high pitch electrical noise with the computer off again
I'm not going to waste time and money to RMA it again ... probably just get a SeaSonic.

CrystalCPUID works very well on that board. I prefer that program to RMClock, I think it's easier to use and more stable, but it's personal preference either way. By sure to read jan's article about using CrystalCPUID to configure your own custom CnQ settings...its very helpful. There's a bug in Cr...

I think this is more complicated. Starting with the E revision I believe that AMD put microcode in the CPU that tells the software that the minimum voltage is 1.1v. However this is an artificial limit (can some dev for RMClock or Crystal confirm this?). My E3 3500+ - IS limited to 1.1v when using o...

RivaTuner should let you to lower the clock of the GPU and its memory and monitor temperatures. http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=163 I use it to lower my nVidia 6800GS's clock; it only reduce the temperature by a couple degrees though. You can also try this tool (very dangerous) to flash...

Interesting info. I know the motherboard makers were not the only ones using bad capacitors, but when they found out about the capacitors going bad a few years ago, I thought everyone had stop using them. Why is Antec using them now :? Are they the same brand/manufacturer? I think my replacement PSU...

So I opened a trouble ticket at Antec, and explained the whole situation. They said that they 'have not had any issue with them', and said that I should return the PSU, preferably directly to them. When I returned the Antec SP2 PSU I got (it was making the high-pitched noise and can't boot the comp...

I got the same power supply, it was making that noise even when the computer is off after I got it for about 6 months I think. At first it would make that noise for about a minute and then it would stop; but then the noise it makes gets longer and longer, and then it never stop making the noise ... ...

There's a review on those processors here: http://www.anandtech.com/cpuchipsets/showdoc.aspx?i=2795 It looks like the AMD one is cheaper than the Intel one. The power consumption of AMD is less, but the performance of Intel is quite a bit higher. I think one other thing to consider is that the Intel...

Well, the noise sounds like a hard drive seek, a little sharper than hitting a wooden table with finger nails. I had returned one before, it also made that noise (it died after it starts to make constant high pitch noises even when the computer is off). As for good PSUs, I'm pretty new here, but the...

I got the same PSU, take a look at this topic: http://forums.silentpcreview.com/viewtopic.php?t=31497 There was also another topic about the same noise from Antec, but I can't find it (in another sub-forum) ... don't think it has anything to do with motherboards though. There's a work-around by turn...

Well, I guess you can always try and if there's no crash I guess it's OK. I have the same CPU (Venice) and mother board, and the CPU is designed to run up to 70C. I think you should just use the stock fan that comes with the CPU, run it at 900RPM will keep the CPU at 40C (idle) and I can't hear the ...

I have a AMD64 3000+ Venice CPU, and I use the stock fan running at 900RPM. I can't hear any difference between this speed and the fan being completely off. It idles at 40oC and at max load it's at 50oC with 1800RPM. This speed is still fairly quiet, but the graphic card fan is quite loud when playi...

Well, I just had to deal with their RMA a week ago with my 6 months old PSU, and the experience was not great. The first time I called, the guy on the phone was rude but gave me an RMA. I called again to asked about what parts to return, got a different guy, and he sounded ok. The total RMA takes 2....

I have the same sound coming out of my Antec SmartPower2.0 450W PSU. At first I thought it was from my hard drive. This current PSU is a replacement of a same unit, but the previous one made the same sound (it was returned because it died after 6 months). I just notice this sound more because I sile...
