Ebay is a good place to pick up MODT for cheap. Try searching for the various chipsets. I've built 2 in recent months and paidless then $100 for motherboard and cpu. I always wanted to do one in the past but was to pricey, until recently. Built a server using a non-branded mini-itx GM965 motherboard...

Ended up picking up a t4300 off of ebay for $35, doing a second MODT system anyways. t4200 consumes 1w less at idle (18w vs 19w) and same at load as the t8100(33w). Haven't gotten SLPM working on the t4200 yet so idle speed is different(1200Mhz on t4200 vs 600Mhz on the t8100). Once I mess with it, ...

LPDDR2 Low Per DDR2

Currently doing two new MODT builds, one uses SO-DIMMS other normal desktop ram. Don't need anything speedy, both boards only support speeds up to 667. Both systems can get by with one stick of RAM as they will both be doing minimal work but running 24/7. Im trying to get the lowest wattage possible...

PSU Requirement for large number of hard drives?

Rebuilding my media server and in the market for a new PSU. Previous server build had a high end CPU, gaming GPU, 800w PSU, and a lot of unnecissary things. I never touch the system so I've decided to rebuild a much lower power system. No point in wasting all of that power on a system that is just s...

I have a DFI G41 Blood Iron and I have no access to BIOS settings for my chip and my RAM will only run at DDR3 800 even though the board is suppose to support DDR3 1066. I dropped in an E...

Im looking for a 2.5" hard drive to replace the dying one in my Dell laptop. Id like to try to find a single platter to help shave a hair off power consumption. It would probably only amount to a fraction of a watt but its what Im looking for. 5400 or 7200 rpm is fine. Storage is not an issue as eve...

I then tried an Asus 9800GT, supposedly 55nm, that supports Hybrid power. I measured 87w idle and 176w load with Hybrid SLI enabled. When I enable the save...
