wow, thanks! very thorough.
problem is it's for a new build, so i haven't got hold of my motherboard (p9d-i) to see what fan control options are available.
maybe one i get it i'll play around first before picking my fans (and suffer through the built in lian li one's on my q18b in the meantime)

Updated recommended fans list?
is it out of date? seems there were a lot of reviewed fans in 2013 that aren't in there?
i was hoping to get a 'definitive' recommendation for a 14cm PWM fan (but the reviews lead me to think they're all a bit sub-par?)

New Build Time - Seasonic Platinum PSU??
anyone have anything to say about the 760 or 1000W (overkill) versions of this?
I've always gone for seasonic, is it worth shopping around for new brands (available in the UK)?

any reviews on the intel version.... i'd probably be only running with a corei3 at a push an i5
i'm hoping this would still be pretty damn silent though?

Re: Samsung Series 9 Ultra Portable Notebook
I bought this machine when it first came out... now the market looks to be set to be flooded with 'ultrabooks' as intel have branded them... it's not that silent, but seems comparable with the macbook pro my g/f has... wish the little details (montor and keyboard bexel) on the machine weren't glossy...

Re: Sandy Bridge CPUs: Intel Core i5-2400, i5-2500K and i7-2
how about some S and T series reviews? I saw a review somewhere and was quite disappointed. Energy efficiency gain is close to nothing at idle; on load energy drop is much smaller than performance drop You'll be better off undervolting a regular processor. Edit: its not that bad, but you still lose...

Re: Sandy Bridge, Part 1: Intel GMA HD 3000 Graphics (Update
missingremote is the only one that talks about 24fps support with UAC disabled, you'd probably have to ping them for more details. Anandtech claims in their article that their is no 24p support due to a limitation in the chipset (from what i read).. I guess only Intel know the real answer! judging b...

speaking of which Mike, did you do a judder test with sandy bridge, i'm getting mixed reports of 24p support (missingremote.com seems to say there are extra options without UAC enabled?)

sorry this is a bit of a n00b question should all CPUs of equivalent TDP be roughly as easy to cool basically i'm looking to upgrade an old 2.13 Ghz Core2Duo - which is rated at 65W TDP and can see that i can go to a 3. something Ghz one which is 65W TDP or even a Quad Core (S Series) which are also...
