Re: MikeC's Audio Craft: An Introduction

Hey Mike, if you ever redo the baltic birch plinth, when laminating the layers, turn each layer perpendicular to each other. This way, you can avoid the dreaded double thickness layer at the glue joint.

Just picked up two 80GB Raptors for a measly $15, RAID 0 stripped setup! Never had Raptors before, couldn't justify the cost, so now since they're dirt cheap decided to buy a couple of them. Unfortunately, the performance simply isn't there when compared to my ancient Intel 330 SSD, even in RAID. In...

Re: Another HTPC in the Antec ISK310

Nothing wants to go in without a fight I found out. Installed (or rather, tried to) the Big Shuriken 2 Rev. B today, only to find out ASRock positioned the CPU socket so close to the top edge of the board that the Big Shuriken 2 hits the fans (missing around 1/4" of space). Uh Oh. I guess lucky me, ...

Re: Fractal R4 Graphics Workstation

Can you fit your custom damped drives into the lower bay and just remove the middle one? Unfortunately, no due to the fact that I need at least five bays - two each for the damped drives and one for the SSD. I have installed a second intake on the bottom to alleviate the cage restriction and temps ...

Mainly used for Maya and 3DS Max, our budget was $3000 give or take a bit. Didn't want to wait for the new Haswell-E Xeons to come out so we went with an Ivy Bridge-E setup. Re: FedEX damaged my ITX case, time for a new one

I took a look at removing them but I'm not sure how to go about it. Are they adhered with thermal pads or adhesive? Will I need to replace the heatsinks? They're usually adhesive of some sort. You definitely don't need to replace them. DDR3 consumes much less power than DDR2, and doesn't need the h...

Quick and Clean Fractal Arc Mini Build

Long story short, decent case, could be improved by replacing more rivets with screws. Found that I couldn't take out the lower drive cage, only the upper one because it's riveted in. Cable management is pretty good, but then again considering the case is fatter/wider than most micro-ATX towers that...

You didn't tell us how you obtain the temps. If the temps were at 100° C, you should either observe throtteling or shutdowns. If you do not have any throtteling, then your temp readings may be way off. Sorry, I didn't know to provide this info. Yes, I did observe throttling down to about 2.5ghz (my...

Finally, the completed product. Good thing I bought a 1000 pack of zip ties, the smaller the case, the more zip ties I have to use in order to mock up where the cables go, and try different layouts. I honestly believe this is the best anyone can do without cutting away part of the ODD/HD brace. http...

I was planning do cut away the ODD drive tray as well, but realized you needed it to brace the case otherwise it became flimsy. Was considering bending up two strips of steel to tie the front and back of the case together using the same screw holes.

Only a 'few' zip ties. LOL. I did go out and buy a 1000 pack of 4" ties. That size and the 5" tie is perfect for computer use.

The Lian Li is an exceedingly hard case to work with as there's no room and I had the genius idea of removing every single obstruction between the front intakes and, well, anything else which means I can't really 'hide' anything per se. http://imageshack.us/a/img705/4711/r0027032.jpg http://imagesha...
