one screw will work. just tighten the screw down (not too much, though) and slide it right in. it'll hold in place just fine.
on a related note, I'm pissed i didn't know about the mc2. bought the mc1 and two days later, saw the sexier new version.

I used Mike C's switches in my rig, patching together two swiches, one of the exhast and gpu fan, the other for my intake and cpu fan. When I was looking to do some gaming, I'd flip that switch and my Solo went from whisper to jet engine. Worked great though and everything stayed cool as a cucumber ...

i second that... i've got an a8n-e, which is basically the same chipset fan and it's been nothing but a headache. i went from stock to the evercool HSF and finally to a Zalman NB47J with a 92mm nexus fan pointing at it and now it's not a problem. i highly suggest going with the stock passive solutio...

man, that's a tall order. pretty picky, eh?

Pricy? yep, but it is a nice lookin case and, by all accounts, a good one.

I think it's all very subjective. I tend to get obsessive about stuff like this (which why finding a site about silent computing was very bad for me  ) and have a very good ear and even I have a hard time hearing difference in sound levels from most of the fans. I just put a ninja in my rig an...

Update: hacked out all of the fan grills. exhausting air is a little quieter! Installed the Scythe Ninja Plus w/ Nexus - temps are great so far. Ordered a zalman NB heatsink on a whim (6 bucks shipped at SVC!) so i'll report back with the results. I had to do something the evercool NB cooler is driv...

Yeah, i've been using AS5 on everything, so i don't have much frame of reference. I've seen tests done, but the difference is only a degree or two. Re: my fans: the panaflo on the back is a monster at full blast. some serious air noise. i swapped it for a nexus and temps went up one or two degrees. ...

i think airflow is definately the problem. the hard drives are blocking too much of it, i think, and artificially routing it kind of funny. I wonder if putting in some higher cfm Pabst fans would work. 2 92mm in the front and a big 120mm in the exhaust, along with the psu fan, should keep things mov...

i think part of the problem is the two tasty raptors right in the path of the chipset, gpu. i'm ok with temps now, though. seems like things are about as good as they're gonna get with the current setup. who knows, maybe i'll ditch the raid setup and put my archive HD external. that'd open up some a...

i'd try a homemade suspension system before you shell out some cash. i use the built-in suspension in my Solo for my dual raptors and theyr'e still a bit chatty. not the silence they claim it gives you. they're definately quieter, but you could just have some lound drives. there's a cool trick in th...

i cant attest to the capabilities of teh mine, but if you do (and it can) run fan-less, you're going to need some gnarly case cooling (i.e. intake and exhaust). The passive 6600 already needs alot of air moved around. i'd be wary that it'd be too much dead air in the case. have you tried undervoltin...

Antec Solo - Quiet Game Box (in progress)
After years of lurking around these fine message boards, I've finally got a system in which i'm trying to put into practice all of the concepts i've learned. My specs are in my sig, but for quick reference: AMD X2 4400, Zalman 9500, a very hot x1800xt w/ VF 900 all packed into the fantastic Antec So...

yeah, i d stay away from the panaflo medium if quet is what you're looking for. i had the same hs and fan going and it was quite a howler. although, now, i have the panaflo tamed as an exhaust with a 12v/5v switch and it's very quiet at 5v. haven't tried it on a cpu, though, but it's something to th...

Hey guys - I've been trolling SPCR for a LONG time, and now that i've put all i've learned here to good use, i thought i'd weigh in about the SOLO. I love Love LOVE this case. Just got mine in the mail and started to build. Using an antec NeoHE 550, cable management is a snap. Also I really love the...
