how do i beat silence addiction???

i just replaced my noisy-ass stock 6800GS cooler (which i was only using because my NV5 silencer kicked the bucket last month..) with a passive heatsink. getting rid of the stock cooler freed up some real estate and allowed me to get rid of the unbearably noisy fan cooling my nforce3 chipset. now yo...

my antec NSK2400 comes with a square plastic piece that covers one of the 120mm fan holes when not in use. i'll sell it to you for $20, hahaha...

seriously though. i wish i could buy another one. i'd like to cover up a hole on my P180. right now i'm using duct tape.

i have an antec p180 which has a top exhaust and a rear exhaust... right now i have the top vent closed and a 120mm tricool fan blowing out the back... soon i will be getting an aerocase raven passive GPU cooler which directs heat from the GPU to a large heatsink that hovers near the CPU heatsink li...

seeing as the reference cooler and most aftermarket coolers have thermal pads to conduct heat from the ram chips, i'm thinking that it may be a good idea to cool them... clearly some egghead engineer at nvidia thought it was a novel idea, so who are we to argue? i figure that 10 bucks worth of ramsi...

second PSU fan in P180....

in a normal case the big PSU fan is supposed to help move air around the CPU region. but since the P180 has a separate PSU chamber, it seems like the second fan is rendered useless... i'm thinking about just turning it off... seems like the 120mm in the lower chamber is already moving plenty of air....

i'm thinking about getting the condor's little brother, the raven... does anyone have any idea how the raven would fare on a 6800GS? even the condor didn't cool a 6800GT particularly well and since the raven only has 2 heatpipes and less surface area, i'm wondering if it could handle one. my setup w...

why do you need a 6600GT in a file server? just replace it with a really old, passively cooled video card.... like a RAGE 128, or GeForce 3/4...

my comment is not intended to deride the review. it was indeed throrough and well done. but i always thought SPCR has a policy against posting reviews of products that fail miserably in the lab... yet the last 2 reviews (zalman CNPS8000, mushkin PSU) have been just that.

what's the deal?

i would just like to reaffirm what was posted above.... TT silent K8 isn't silent at all... they must've measured 19dBA from a mile away... it's not much quieter than the stock cooler... i can't believe i got suckered into buying a TT silent K8... i bought it before i started reading this site... th...

it's really not the motherboard that's the issue... i have an AC NV5 silencer which pretty much covers the chipset... so i have to use a very low profile cooler.. none of these mini-tower coolers will fit. i don't think i can bend the NB47 fins low enough to get under the silencer... i wish whatever...

heatpipe cooler for nForce3 chipset...

i've searched these forums high and low for this but found nothing... where can i buy a passive heatpipe cooler for a chipset? like the ones found on the newer ASUS and Abit boards... i used to have a zalman NB47J but i upgraded my video card and it was getting in the way of the GPU cooler so i had ...
