Thanks, B_r. It has run fine with 4-pin setup, so I won't worry on that part.

Right now I am having posting issues, after a malware attack. Trying to chase down that gremlin.....

4-pin ATX-12v, or 8-pin EPS +12v plug in an EATX-12v mobo?

My new power supply for an ASUS P5B board has two 4-pin ATX-12 plugs. The cpu is Intel Core2 E6400 (no tweaks). The manual never explains more than what you can do. In this case, the board takes 4-pin, or 8-pin. I think the two 4-pins will fit the 8-pin configuration. Is there any advantage to using...

Resolved!

The problem was the PSU! I finally stripped everything down, removed and reinstalled the mobo (after redoing the cpu and heat-sink--one of those Ninja monsters). Added one memory stick powered the cpu, board, graphics card, and soft switch. Played for awhile until the mobo LED went dark. Put in a ne...

There was no warning of a system breakdown.

I will dig around for a spare PSU and try that before breaking down the cpu and mother board.

Thanks, Kittle.

Hi, Kittle.

The CD/DV tray opens. There was no read spin-up when I tried to boot from it.

The PSU question was more: 'Is this possible?" before saying it's good and going to the board and cpu tests.

It's unnerving to stumble about blind and with no sense of touch (no monitor or keyboard).

PSU- Can a power supply fail in sections but work in others?

My Antec He-440 has faithfully served for 3 to 4 years of 24/7 operation (mainly sleep). I am trying to diagnose a hardware problem and wondered if the PSU could be a "sneeky" culprit. My system is much like Chris Thomson's Core2 build (posted on SPCR). I do not get monitor, keyboard, and (guessing)...

My apologies, Plympton. I read your post, replied - I thought - and just ran across a message notice.... I went with the HP C7280, only because it had to sit in a cabinet and backside paper feed was not an option. Epson and Canon, both in comparable range, require back-side paper feed. The lure of w...

PRINTERS - Replacement for MFP/AIO?

Pulled my question from 'Off-topic' and redirecting here. Our HP 5110i (something like that) passed into electronic purgatory the other day. I'm certain it is older than our oldest cpu. Fax was never used, but we do need an AIO (all in one) system. Printers are a rare topic on SPCR, so I'd hope som...

Mitsumi is flakey! I 've been playing with the drivers today to restore the media card readers, then finally disconnected the floppy and deleted the default MS drivers for it. I couldn't get the updated Speedfan to do anything. The technology is over my head.

I hear my hard drives whining, now. It's time to quit tinkering with this beast.

Next: The old reliable Dell needs a good detail and tuneup.

Thanks to everyone for your assistance and advice.

The Ninja and my Asus p5b-Deluxe board are a good fit, without the included 120 fan. This was my first DIY build. The Ninja is a big piece of hardware. The issue still is the fans. Quieter, but still too noisy. The change-over has been made, with a couple changes to the original task list. And, so far, I can play in the BIOS. I just finished dropping the same into a p-150, and I have normal, fumbly fingers. The heatsink, RAM and fan were pre-installed, however. Have on hand several long extension tools (chopsticks, needle-nose pliers, etc.) for the 4-prong 12v plug. Skinny fingers might work. The board and case are a goo...
