you do not lose warranty on ps3 if you open it. They encourage you to change hd's and modify the system (without the soldering gun of course!). only m$ crapbox voids all warranties and is actually "illegal" to open it. If I had one and didnt care about messing with its really nice looks (eek) I wou...

speedfan will do the job, but the annoying thing, at least to me, is that the program needs to be initiated (manually or automatically) every time the computer boots up...takes a couple of seconds to load...not too long but i hate that...just me...

it all depends on whether you are gonna overclock and plan for future upgrade...from the specs alone, a decent 400-450 would suffice...but if i were you, i would get one with at least 500...

if you have money, thermaltake toughpower is good...

Sorry, I don't think it's that eye-pleasing, probably due to the choice of wood. And it looks massive.

Yes, that's what you needa work out. Some people actually cut one or two fins off the Zalman NB47J to make it fit with the big video card cooler.

Ninja performs better than Zalman 9500.

You can replace the noisy southbridge fan with the passive Zalman NB47 or NB47J. It's cheap and does the job well. But if you are into overclocking, I would suggest you go with one with a fan.

I don't know what's wrong with yours. I got a SP450 that comes along with Sonata II and it's quiet like hell. Where did you record the sound? At the back of the PSU or what?

One of my WD HDDs also hums very irritatingly, but it's been almost 3 years old, so I'd say it's getting old and that's why the hum. By the way, the hum is totally unpredictable. And like yours, once it comes, it won't stop until you tap/wiggle/slide it a little bit. To me, this is way more annoying...

Well, i asked a computer technician today and he said it's pretty much useless.

How old is your Seagate drive? Do you know the cause of the hum? HDD aging? And I think m0002a's method is to reduce vibration so it's no doubt it can't take away the hum.

But shouldn't Sonata II (~11kg) be heavy enough to suppress this kind of noise? One of the HDDs (the bootable one as usual) is rotating/vibrating more than the other one. Would it help if I put that one in the lower rack? Those are really nice ideas, but I don't really want to spend any more on this...

Sonata II - Weird Vibration Sound.

Hi, I got a Sonata II, and there's some weird vibration sound coming off the side panel. It comes randomly and goes up and down. If I press against the side panel, the sound tends to go away. I was wondering if any of you, particularly those who own a Sonata II, have ever experienced something like ...
