New db-1 pump
D-tek has a new, nicely-priced pump, the dB-1. While it doesn't have the head pressure of a DDC2, I think it might do pretty decent on most rigs. Has anyone tried it? How's the noise level?

The D-Tek Fuzion is low-restriction. I wonder how it compares with DangerDen's maze cpu block, which I think was one of the least restrictive blocks around.

How does Seagate 7200.8 compare to 7200.10 and Samsung?
I have a 7200.8 Seagate which is pleasant quiet when compared to my other Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD2500KS and a Maxtor. I read very good reviews about the WD, but I found it quite dissapointing. The most bothersome aspect of the WD is the seek noise, it feels sharp and metallic whereas the 7200...

The T-balancer will make the DDC quieter but at a cost. Undervolting the 10W DDC makes the T-balancer extremely hot, its heatsink reaches 50 degrees celcius. Undervolting the 18W is even worser. According to m-cubed, this is normal, but personally I don't like saving noise at the expense of wasting ...

Hey I feel you pain. I had the same kit that you have and I have to say that the reservoir plus that pump is a disaster in noise. First of all your problem is likely to be the fact that the MCP350 is the 18W version rather than the quieter 10W (please check on the label of the pump to confirm). Seco...

Hey nice looking, good job Lazaredz. I like your dedicated "throne" for the pump :D About the tubing you are probably right about the home depot tubing; that's what I have right now and it's a pain to maneuver, not malleable at all. I’ll have to give the masterkleer a try. Taking a closer look on ...

for watercooling the drive and soft-mounting it, it doesn't get much cheaper than this: http://www.aquatuning.de/product_info.php/info/p44_Festplattenk-hler-Tripple-Pile-G1-4.html heck, oversea shipping costs more than the damn thing :) and I've never seen the interior of the block, so I don't know...

Which version is it? 10w or 18w? Also, be extremely catious on what the DDC makes contact with. You may think vibration completely dampened but any slight bad contact with the case, whether through tubing or mounting screws can amplify motor hum like crazy. What I'd do is unmount it as place it else...

Allright then. I think I'll mount the fan on the inside of the case pushing out into the rad on the outside of the case. Of course that puts the rad nips through the case metal and means my cut better be pretty dead on. :( Oh well, here is to adventure!!!! Glad to hear :) Welcome to the internal-ra...

The advantage of having the radiator outside is that you are taking heat further away from the case, which is really nice. So temperatures should be lower. Disadvantage is that being external, there is no noise isolation. If it were internal, some noise would get dampened inside the case. There are ...

Hey welcome :) I think you've lead yourself into a passive solution without necessarily looking for it :). An aluminum container would dissipate heat so it’d be passive cooling. I bet that if you attach aluminum heat sinks all around the container it’ll enhance the cooling. The caveat is that su...

Haven't done the review yet, but it's planned somewhere down in my queue (not that that many requests I guess?) :x As far as I know there is still no manual for the bigNG. The problem i have with active radiators is this, i want them to fit inside the case, wich is easy enough, but it needs holes, wich are also reasonably easy to make pretty, but the problem is that moise will escape more easily thru the holes, so having a truely very quiet HDD is critical. I'm also ...

Not to hijack your recommendation, but last time I went with Apple's pro tower line, namely G5, it was loud by SPCR standards. It was one of my first surprises, I just kept trying to perceive otherwise, but the noise was there. Many argue that you can get same noise levels in watercooling with AC, a...

Well since you are looking for kits, there's a really nice one from Swiftech, the H20-120 , at the best price I've ever seen it at subzeropcs.com, I don't how those guys do it. The only problem with that kit is that the DDC pump is the 18w version, which is more powerful than the DDC 10w but more no...

Hey, if you wanna monitor water level, water temperatures and fans and since you'll be aiming at quiet I suggest you get the bigNG . It's the best all-in-one controller of its kind. BTW, modded means they come with the acrylic top, that's all. You could get the factory pump and then the acrylic top separ...
