I don't care much for the blue ring either. Perhaps the LED is easily removed. Indeed the optical drives area would fit an enclosed/silenced HD. Unfortunately, as seen in this picture, i think that it wil fit only 1 enclosed HDD plus 1 dvd-player. Gonna need at least two enclosed hdd in there. http:...

I have some reservations about this case: - First off: the HDD cage. By the looks of it it doesn't look like it allows for HDD enclosures, like the silentmaxx HDD silencer. What do you think is it possible or not? http://lian-li.com/v2/tw/product/upload/image/pc-b25s/b25s-13s.jpg Besides the intake ...

I'd like to know what you're opinion is about the noise level created by watercooled vs. aircooled systems (both with fans) when the system is to be equipped with something like this:
CPU: i5 - 670
GPU: HD 5850
HDD: 1x SDD, 2x7200 RPM

I asked Zalman but still waiting for a reply. Haven't tried intel yet. Don't mind you asking why i bought an outdated case. Sometimes the latest is not the greatest. Especially when it comes to cases. This particular fanless midi-tower was released in 2005 or so and for some reason in 2010, we are s...

current compatible mobo for TNN 300
I ordered a TNN 300 case and now i am looking for a compatible micro-ATX mobo. The list provided by Zalman is outdated. I would much appreciate suggestions for modern mobos, suitable for current processors.

Does anyone have experience with this case and why did zalman not make a new model? Was the TNN flawed?

cooling passive vga with case fans only?
I noticed that some silverstone cases such as the Fortress series are equiped with three 180 mm fans placed on the bottom blowing upwards. This case also has the mobo turned 90 degrees. Is this sufficient to cool a passively cooled VGA like a 5850/5750?

Hmmm maybe the monitor-speaker combination isn't such a bad idea. Thats if the build-in speakers are on par with peripheral speakersets. I must agree that its hard to get true noise specifications of any speaker. But thats why i ask you (SPCR guys) with minimal background noise to post your opinions...

Noisefree speakerset in idle mode
What speakerset is absolutely noisefree when its on standby?
Currently I have a Logitech 120 speakerset and its not noisefree on standby. Actually, it is noisier than my entire rig. What is a good 2.1 speakerset?

I have improved the POST time by ignoring/disabling the Hardware Monitor options in the BIOS (Q-fan and temp/RPM readings) except that of the CPU. Speedfan still regulates the fans accordingly. I now have a WinXP boot time of 35 sec; POST is very quick now (2 sec). Wow! Must make note to me - add H...

Boot times have always been a bit of an annoyance for me. As of now my machine boots in 18 seconds, from when I push the power button to where I can use the machine. A few of the background programs I run take another 5 seconds or so to get started after that, but aren't really needed for anything ...

Harddisk: get a WD or Samsung they are about equally expensive as the Seagate brand but more silent and performance wise there is hardly any difference. I used the same ASUS P5W DH for the Conroe system for a friend and the mainboard takes very long to boot up. About 30 seconds just detecting USB-devices (why???) and an overall slow boot up. I've heard this many times, and i'm thinking of RMA. Some folks state that the slow POST is due to the RAID ...

Windows XP cold boot time and optimization
I was just wondering how fast everyone's machine here boots from the moment of pressing the power button to the blue screen of login (or desktop display if no login is required). Microsofts' 'Design Goals' for XP, is for a PC to boot in 30 seconds. My new Conroe system takes at least twice that amou...

After doing *much* research, it turns out that the P5W DH doesn't play well with the Antec HE PSU's. Hi, I am using the same motherboard, CPU and PSU. Initially I had similar problems with the setup (booting and so on). Having updated the bios to 1407 (from something like 650?) seems the have solve...

Edit: I now softmounted the HDD. Its connected to the case only with a few strings. However even now there is still a hum going on. It seems that the noise is getting louder near the power supply. humming noise: whats the source
My newly assembled computer is making this really annoying low humming noise. The noise is probably generated by one of these two components: 1. Power supply Neo 430 HE Or 2. Harddisk WD CaviarSe16 + Silentmaxx enclosure Other components (fans) seemed not to be producing the particular sound (turned...

Maximum Core 2 Duo temperatures ?
According to intel the maximum temperature for conroe processors is about 60 C. Does this apply to the core temperature or the overall CPU temperature (the one you see in SpeedFan for instance)? With an E6600 + p5w dh (not overclocked) and CNPS 9500 @ 900 RPM, i'm getting these temps: At idle CPU co...

Hi,
I bought an ASUS EN7900GT card which seems to give all kinds of artifacts. So it has to be replaced. The reason i bought this particular card was because of its silent operation and good performance at low energy consumption.

With the latest BIOS as of last week, I found the CPU temp readings to be seemingly realistic. CPU temp only reached above 50C when I needed to over-volt the CPU to hit 3GHz. That sounds promising. CPU temperature monitoring is important. However i would like to have a little experiment to take pla...
