Re: Quiet gaming slim mini-ITX challenges.

Looking for a slim case that's moderately portable / looks more like a console than a PC. Been eyeballing cases like the Silverstone RVZ01, RVz02, ML08, etc. and Lian-Li 05. Would be thrilled if I could find something like the Lian-Li PC-Q19 but long enough to support a full length GPU. That's proba...

Quiet gaming slim mini-ITX challenges.

Howdy all. I've been researching options for a possible small form factor build for a slim gaming rig... if I can cram everything in it while keeping it quiet. I've been taking a hard look at Silverstone's RVZ02B and similar cases due to their slim form factor. I prefer the aesthetics of Fractal's N...

need suggestions on fanless/quiet heatsink for old ATI x1600

Hey all, I recently was given some spare parts and am slapping together a rockin' Athlon XP 3000+ Barton based computer (I remember drooling over the Barton when it first came out and how I couldn't afford it)... I'd have been proud to own it in the early 2000s. Sadly, the AGP ATI x1600 graphics car...

supposedly Powercolor will be releasing a low profile 4650 part in the USA during the second week of March, according to an email reply I received from the company. I hope that becomes reality.

It's 2009 and still no low profile parts from AMD?

I'm surprised at the lack of current parts from AMD available in low profile form factor, especially the lack of HD 4650 and HD 4670 parts. A few folks are on the ball with NVIDIA chips as high as the 9800 GT in low profile, but the newest AMD stuff I'm finding on newegg are all 3000 series. You'd t...

I'm still not able to find a low profile 4650 or 4670. Trying to help a friend out with their low profile dell, but the lack of modern parts from ATI is discouraging.

System rebuild and some "nub" questions.

Hey guys and gals. I'm gutting and rebuilding my currently very quiet system (replacing the motherboard) and would greatly appreciate suggestions for my fan configuration (as well as possible input on RAM). I've owned a Dell 24" for about a year now. I find the component connectors to only have a decent image. Not sure if it's the monitor or the fact that the display is so high rez verses the content being sent to it from the Dreamcast and PS2.

Need to replace a socket 939 board with another socket 939.

The company I work for is offering to replace my current MSI Neo 4 Platinum SLI motherboard with another socket 939 board. My MSI has a faulty NIC and some issues that suggest the northbridge is wonky. They won't upgrade it to something current, so it has to be socket 939. I'm mainly considering boa...

I've only had a little time to play around with it, but my XFX 7950 GT SLI set up seems to work nicely in my P180b. I have the fans on lowest settings, and although I've not done a thorough testing of the thermals, it looks like my GPUs are staying well within the green, as is my CPU. At idle, the G...

most the big guys who made quality CRTs are no longer in the business of making CRTs, such as Sony. You'll probably have better luck jumping over to a newer generation of LCD. After mangling the heck out of a zalman northbridge heatsink, I managed to get it and my two new xfx 7950 GTs in SLI set up. I think I have the quietest computer I've ever heard in person. I concur on the RAM. Install it before the heatsink. you CAN install it afterwards, but you'll be rubbing up against the heatsink fins which kinda hurts.
