I probably want to stay away from refurbished cards.
My biggest concern is whether this dual slot cards actually would fit. I think this is my case:

Also, the passive heatsink would be at the bottom.

Re: Please help me to select my next Radeon - upgrading 5670
Thanks for all the help.
Looks like I might have an issue with my XPS 9100 case with cards that have an overlapping heatsink.
I think I should be OK with a dual slot card.

Re: Please help me to select my next Radeon - upgrading 5670
I could not find a silent 6670 that is still in stock. However, I found some with fan, like this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150712 Not sure how bad the fan noise would be. As for 7750's, this one? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150612 I am...

Re: Please help me to select my next Radeon - upgrading 5670
No gaming.
Maybe watch a HD movie. Maybe some video editing.
CPU is a i7 930 @2.8Ghz
How do the 6670 stack up with noise and power usage?

Please help me to select my next Radeon - upgrading 5670
I have a AMD 5670 that is causing some issues. Therefore, I am looking to get a new AMD card. I am looking for a slight upgrade in performance as well. A silent card would be nice. I found that the 6450 from different vendors as a silent model. I am really not sure if this card is actually faster as...

Looking for good silent DAS or NAS - 2 or 4 bay.
I have currently a SansDigital DAS (8 bay) with a SATA RAID card in a PC.
I have been playing around trying to make it more silent. However, I would like to upgrade to something that is near silent out of the box, reliable, and simple.
Where should I start looking?

I'm confused wheter I evens should get a different CPU cooler. According to this it appears that the stock fan is not all that bad from a noise level:
http://www.frostytech.com/articleview.c ... 132&page=4
Is this true? It seems my setup currently producses more noise than my old one.

This is a nice cooler. I'm somehow tempted to make better use of the screen on the side of the case. The location would also allow to install a fan. See middle of page: http://www.silentpcreview.com/article772-page3.html Would it make sense to install a fan on the screen and have a a cooler with no ...

Looking for CPU cooler help for my Silverstone LC17 HTPC
I have a Silverstone LC17 case, with a Intel 2.93GHz E7500 CPU (775 socket) on a Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P P45 775 R mobo. I'm looking for some help to find a good CPU cooler that also fits. So, for example I'm wondering if I should get a cooler with a fan mounted to the side due to the vent opening nea...

Sorry, to hijack this thread. But I have similar questions about my GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3P and how to connect the case fans to it. Basically two 3pin exhaust and one 3pin intake. I'm somewhat unsure how I was supposed to use the mobo connectors for my fans. Or if I should simply connect them directly...

Looking for some help picking a HTPC PSU
I'm in the process of assembling my HTPC#3. I will be running: - Intel Core2 Duo E7500 Wolfdale 2.93GHz 3MB L2 Cache LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor - Graphics, not sure yet, could be a 5xxx ATI - 2 HD - 1 BD - possibly 2 tuner cards at some point. So I figured 400W could be enough. On the other han...

Filter material for PC front
Hi,
I noticed that bout my Dell 310 and my
are rather "open" in the front. I was hoping to put in some filter material.
Has anyone done that? I found this with google:
http://www.purapc.com/store/PuraPC_filters.html
It can be cut to size. Has anyone used it? Or something similar?

Looking [for] thin dampening mats
Hi,
What is an affordable dampening mat material that I could get for my external drive case? It needs to be thin as the covers have not much clearance with internals.

Yes, in fact I used the madshrimps review as my basis. The Nexus doesn't seem to rank high in this particular review. I want to replace a "On G Hua" HA1225L12S-Z, 12VDC, 0.33 A. Which is very loud and powerful at full speed. I did a google for "HA1225L12S-Z CFM" which came up with one hit on a Russi...

noctua nf-p12 only for CPU cooling or also as a case fan?
Hi,
When I compared airflow (CFM) to noise (dBa) I came across the noctua nf-p12. It has the lowest noise rating at the desired CFM.
However, the model seems to be described as a CPU cooler (vortex pressure).
Will it work well as a case exhaust?

Where does the SMART temp sensor measure the temperature? I'm using an external RAID case (SansDigital Towerraid TRM8) which for some reason prevents me from reading the SMART values. Yes, I was thinking toi get either a fan with integrated temp control or an external one. I think it would be best if I could place a temp sensor near the drives. Got SansDigital TRM8 - need help to silence it
Hi,
I got a SansDigital TRM8 Towerraid box. It is extremely loud! The 120 fan is spinning at full speed. It has only 2 wires. Therefore no fan control. On top of all it has LED's.
Could you recommend a 120 fan that is silent, can work with 2 wires and still adjusts speed based on temp?

Thanks! It works. However, it looks like that the fan speed is in both machines around 820 RPM. Here is what I know: - same fan type - same RPM - similar case - the T100 makes more noise Could it be that they changed the fan design - I guess not likely. The other option is that this case produces mo...
