Made a wire from old network cable, there was enough lines in it for all signals (power to fans, pump, pwm to read rpms of each).

Re: My journey to madness

These are great fans, but they are extremely expensive. As with any pricy cooling solution, there is always this problem, that instead of investing in cooling, you can upgrade hardware, get better selected cpu, or higher model, undervolt it, and get better performance/noise ratio out of it, than you...

Straight up better, more control over it. Only reason I used vario is because I had good deal on it.

Re: External watercooling benchtable (i7 + 1080)

PWM version od D5 should be quieter because it can go lower rpm, just like fans do. Also you are more flexible with controlling it, you can adjust exact speed that you want or even make it speed up during load to increase flow. WIth vario pump, there is dial at the back of pump so you basically set ...

Re: External watercooling benchtable (i7 + 1080)

Really like the build, i always wondered about external rads, seems a very viable option, i would like to do one but with quick disconnects.... someday. Is the D5 audible? I use vario (5 gears), you can't dail it down as low as PWM version does. Key is proper vibration isolation. I ended up using d...

External watercooling benchtable (i7 + 1080)

Another iteration of my Lian Li benchtable, this time watercooled. Idea was to move all noise generating parts away from the pc, and still have hardware exposed for aesthetic purposes. Big 9x120mm radiator and D5 pump attached to it (all through vibration isolation). Not all fan slots are populated ...

Speedfan - how to kick-start 3pin fans?

I use speedfan fan control for bunch of 3pin DC fans on my watercooling radiator. I have fan curve set in "fan control tab". System is designed so that during idle and low load, fans are turned off, because there is no need for them to operate. They turn on initially when you start PC, but once spee...

Re: NUC6i7KYK/NUC skull canyon

What sucks about it, is new board layout, so it wont fit in any previous nuc fanless cases. CPU would probably have too high tdp for that.
What we get is blower style laptop cooling system, which by spcr standards is pretty bad.

Actually button is quite hard to press, it goes really deep before switch triggers. I rarely use it myself, h81 mobo and power on usb doing great job. Missed that feature in many sandy bridge motherboards.

I don't think stock cooled 980ti meets spcr standards, maybe in idle :) Is that the stock cooler? By stock I didn't mean reference, just any 2 slot out of box cooler you buy your card with. Stress that card to 100% and hear the jet engine noise levels. There is no way around it unless you use custo...

You know, top of the case is standard extension slots, whole case frame, cables, and then there is top panel, which is a mesh. It is significantly more restrictive than for example top in normal atx case that has only a mesh there. Because there is less layers.

Re: Quiet SLI Gaming PC Build Guide

Using different gpu cooling than stock would improve results greatly. Just get cheapest reference 970 and buy proper cooler. Then you can use quality 120/140mm fans at very low rpm (500-600 for example), and even achieve better gpu temps. Going for 1 stronger card is another alternative, if it's nee...

Re: Lian Li V1020b gtx780 prolimatech mk-26 build

It is quite hard to compare, as I didn't use same fans setup. CPU was just 1 fan in the middle of heatsink, no exhaust 120mm fan mounted, and 2x180 intake. So cpu temps were quite bit worse, since gpu was blowing in cpu's direction, and that air was stuck there. Another difference is, that I had 2x1...

Lian Li V1020b gtx780 prolimatech mk-26 build

Not exactly new hardware, except gtx780, which is high tdp card. Prolimatech mk-26, 140mm fans at 5v, quiet and very efficient. As you can see cooler is suspended, so there is no sagging in pci-e slot, and pcb of graphic card is perfectly flat. Case obviously isn't best choice for quiet builds, as t...

I did own TJ08-E some time ago, and had similar issue. Re: GameMi v2, FT05 + GTX970 SLI

From my experience, after using FT02, issue with those type of cases is, that if you set bottom 180mm fans to low rpm (not case stock switch low, but actually minimum with analog fan controller), then the airflow they generate is pretty insignificant. They still put fresh air into the case, that is ...

When it comes to 290, definitely not good idea for quiet rig.. no matter what cooler. These cards just run way too hot, to be efficiently cooled by 2 slot coolers, at spcr grade noise levels. Idle is possible, but load, not a chance.

I remember that front fan in tj08-e was serious problem for me, even at absolutely minimum speed it wasn't inaudiable, when case was next to me on top of my desk. Such big intake just doesn't work very well for silent setup. Fan itself is also not the quietest among 180mm (it is powerful at high rpm...
