1) It don't matter 2) you either use the trays or the rubber bands not both. Though some peoople leave the tray in to catch the hd in case the bands fail. As for the tightness, it should be one twist in tightness, no more, no less for a 3.5 inch HD 3) not sure about this problem as i have not encou...

Re: Antec SOLO mounting issues
Hi, 2. When mounting the HD using the rubber-bands, the HD seems to rest on the rubber grommets under it. Is this intended, or have I just not tightened the rubber bands enough (i.e. shouldn't the HD be "free floating" - only fixated by the rubber bands)? Read page 5 of the manual... Didn't know th...

Antec SOLO mounting issues
Hi, I have an Antec SOLO case and have some questions regarding the mounting of the devices in it. 1. Where should the HD be placed to minimize the amount of noise? Should it be placed in the bottom, middle, or top drive bay? 2. When mounting the HD using the rubber-bands, the HD seems to rest on th...

Memory only needs to be as fast as you FSB. However, we're talking real speeds, not effective speeds. C2D M/Bs use quad pumping, so the listed speed is really 1/4 the listed value. Thus the 1066 MHz FSB is really 266 MHz. The RAM is DDR so the listed speed is double the real rate, so to handle a 26...

Thanks for your responses. Regarding the question how I intend to mount the HD, I'm not sure but either using the rubber band suspensions or the screws in the Antec SOLO case. How come you asked by the way? Also, some follow up questions: * I didn't quite get an answer to what limitations the mother...

New system, need advice on final details.
Hi, I'm going to build a new silent computer system. After a lot of research I've come up with the following system components: CPU: Core 2 Duo E6600. Motherboard: ASUS P5B Deluxe or ASUS P5B-E Plus. RAM: 2x1GB Corsair DDR2 533 MHz PC4200. GFX card: ASUS Extreme GeForce 7600GS SILENT 256MB fan-less....

Seasonic S12 380W - hole in top of case needed for fan?
Hi, I'm going to build a new PC, and will probably be using the Seasonic S12 380W PSU. Looking at that PSU, I see that its fan is located in such a way that it seems to be blowing air in from the top (i.e. ceiling) of the computer case. Does this mean that I must get a computer case with a hole at t...

I just checked out the passive GFX card review at Anandtech ( http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=2825&p=17 ). I compared the 7600GS cards, and wonder how come the idle/load temperature can differ so much between different cards based on the same GPU and memory? Also, will it make any diff...

How many fans are needed in the case?
Hi, I just wonder how many fans are normally needed in a case? I'll be building a midtower computer based on a Core 2 Duo CPU, a passively cooled GFX card, and quiet HD & DVD drives. Some years ago when I build my last computer there was one fan in the PSU, and that was all that was needed. From wha...
