Re: 8800GTS (new g92) v. 8800GT v. ATI 3870 sound levels

As for loudness: the 8800GT is pretty silent as long as the fan is at <30% capacity, which is 1600ish rpm i think. But when that fanspeed starts ramping up, it gets ugly. With the fan locked at 30% my card gets about 85C, which is pretty hot and on top of that, it dumps nearly all that heat straigh...

8800GTS (new g92) v. 8800GT v. ATI 3870 sound levels

FYI, also included is old 8800gts 320, and 2900xt. The next page also has power measurements: http://www.tweaktown.com/articles/1234/15 Maybe not the best tests ever, but good enough to get a good idea of how they perform relative to each other. The 8800gt and 2900xt are terrible, the rest are prett...

In America, including the Texas, the law is pretty universal. If you are outside your home, you cannot use deadly force if you can avoid - even to protect property. You can use deadly force to protect yourself or someone if the threat is grave (murder, rape, etc.). However, if you are IN your own ho...

I don't blame corsair, but dumb users and "experts" who don't know what they are talking about. Corsair is a company that wants to make money - if they don't have a product in a given market segment, then they are losing money. With all this talk about how much power is really needed, I think some people missed an important point. Sometimes people *need* to buy a new psu. And for me at least, the cost of the 750 is virtually the same as the 620. I have an old 520 Modstream which is starting to make various noises and I hav...

considering that both are seasonic-made, that's hopefully what it is. The TX750 is Channel Well made... the VX450 and the two HX models are the Seasonics. Yes, the tx750 is not seasonic. http://www.hardocp.com/article.html?art=MTQwMywsLGhlbnRodXNpYXN0 I would love to have a spcr review because I ca...

Hello, They do mention (at least) the efficiency of each unit, but they do not mention the noise levels, AFAICS. In their defense, they have mentioned in previous articles that although they do quick listen tests, they are not really setup to do quality noise tests. So it is probably better when an...

"Certainly there are a few other great resources on the Web for PSU reviews like JonnyGuru, PCPer, and SPCR."

They review $50 psu's - not suprisingly, they are not so good for enthusiast systems.

TBH nothing I read in that article said to me that GF9800 was going to be quiet with stock cooling. The 8800GTS isn't remotely quiet either (can't speak...

evga sells in Europe -- and I would really recommend that brand if possible. evga has a real lifetime warranty, not "lifetime" of the card (i.e. until they stop making it). They even let you overclock without voiding warranty. Also, a 90 step-up. If they come out with a newer model within 90 days, y...

You really should think about the 8800gts for a game machine. D10 is already here - play the d10 version of Call of Juarez (on the American dvd, not UK or European versions) and then the d9 and you will see the difference. There are good deals on the both the 320 and 640 versions. The 8600s gets ham...
