No i don't think it's too loud, compared to my LX700, is sounds dampened. The DVD drive isn't very noisy, you can control the speed of your drive using Nero Drive Speed . Yea i noticed those holes, not sure what they are there for. Maybe if you spill coffee on the keyboard ?

The Abit IP35 Pro can control all the fans via software or BIOS. Much better option than the Gigabyte MB IMO.

Thats a very detailed review, well done. In revision 2, they should replace those fans with some nexus ones and some soft rubber grommets for hard disk mounting. I'd be interested in the results.

I couldn't control the previous fans in speedfan because they had there own fan controler, i think its called a rheostat. The other fans did a great job and were quiet, but i wanted something that didn't require me to manually change the fan speed.
