Is anyone running an NF-M2 nview with discrete graphics? Can you determine whether the board shuts down the integrated graphics while discrete graphics are active (ie it doesn't use as much power in itself)? I'm using a fan-less 7600GS on an ASUS M2NPV-VM. I would guess this is essentially similar ...

Tried the fanless 7600GS - temps remained the same to slightly lower. The 6150 isn't quite as hot and I assume PSU is removing additional heat from the 7600. The AC Freezer Pro mounting seems precarious in that there are only two tabs on the MB HSF bracket. There are six on a 939 MB. I wonder if the...

There is a lot of misinformation on this thread. It would be useful to start a sticky that states the facts.

Coolermaster has a really nice case... rc541? It is very nice. I was going to get that but decided with the receiver like 2400. It is also inexpensive. I recently built a PC with this Centurion 541 uATX case ($50) - almost bypassed it because of the name. It's the nicest small PC case I know of - l...

- Plextor SATA DVD - I've installed XP with a Plextor 716SA on a MSI Diamond+ with no problems. Haven't used it much for writing - burned a couple of CDs and DVDs to test it. The version of PlexTools that comes with it crashes on XP shutdown - haven't downloaded the new version yet. They're relative...

Beyonder

Not debating whether you've had any viruses - you could tell with XP flakiness or stolen identity or credit abuse or the like eventually. I'm wondering if you've used RootkitRevealer from SysInternals and if it's the best at exposing this pernicious form of malware.

A passive GPU is nice and quiet except it still generates heat. The HS on the GPU just spreads it out - it still needs to be removed from the case. Therefore, well thought out case cooling is required - either with enough fans or more exotic cooling. Don't know the quality of the 330w PSU so can't c...

I guess I should qualify what I mean to be noisy. I think everybody who's listened to a PCP&C 510 would agree that it is noisy - not to denigrate it's outstanding power delivery characteristics. I unwittingly purchased one because "people said" that's what you need with a big system (big GPU). A tec...

I believe the main thing lacking (or not lacking) with PCP&C is noise. They have rock solid PSUs but they're just not quiet. This site is dedicated above all to noise-less equipment. I have a Silencer610 - rock solid but not very quiet. Although it's quieter than the 510, it's larger (longer) as a r...

It's vaguely like unplugging the tach in your car. It isn't needed for general operation but it's good to know what's going on - it can be a warning of something unusual.

I've noticed this on a recent build with an nVidia MB chipset (MSI) - fresh XP-SP2 install with no tweaking. The drive light flashs like a heartbeat - about once a second. On an old Dell GX240 SFF (P4 2MHz) which has a relatively fresh XP-SP2 install, the light is dark for minutes at a time. Neither...

One other thing about overkill PSU - I've been waiting for a decent GPU and may have found it in the 8800GTX. It seems that 520W would be just right. I don't think there will be a problem with this in the NF-M2. The real problem is rationalizing the expenditure.

Don't understand the meaning of: shame it's not too efficient. Is there such a thing as too efficient? or do you mean they're not very efficient - like the new 85+ Seasonics? Spending 25-35% more than needed on a computer part sounds pretty stupid. But then, you could spend $1200 on a great computer...

Hard to tell if it's an apples to apples comparison, but the Corsair sounds quieter. I was just looking for a less expensive, slightly lower powered equivalent - don't mind spending $20-30 more for the Corsair. It seems that the exhaust measurement tests are as or more important. I know case sound i...

I have an eMachines (3500+, MSI MB w/ATI on board video, 2x512MB DDR 333 RAM, 2 WD 320GB drives, DVD, ATI X800GT) with that Bestec PSU. It has been fine (albeit not very silent) for over a year. KILL-A-WATT reports ~110W at idle and ~160W spikes under load. Bestec isn't necessarily a noname PSU - it...
