I did, and it actually spun up the cd and started reading it, then shortly afterward switched to booting from hard drive. Strange.

Got my system pretty much set up now, so thought I'd share a few statistics of how it's gone for the general good. Specs: Antec Solo (rear case fan running on 'low') Athlon 64 x2 Energy Efficient (65w) Scythe Ninja rev B (running passive) Abit NF-M2 Nview 2x 1GB Aeneon DDRII 667mhz Gigabyte 7600GT (...

Good pics, thanks. Looks like it will block the actual DIMM socket. I was hoping it might just make it difficult to install/remove DIMMs with the Ninja in place. Ah well. As you say, pretty tight on the capacitors - and those capacitors look very snug to the board, so there's probably not much play....

skj - thanks for the info re Ninja. How far out of line did you have to push the capacitors - 45 degrees? More? I was expecting that it might block the DIMMs, as it's listed on Scythe's site as blocking DIMMs on some of their full ATX boards. It's good to hear it confirmed, though, as it influences ...

Also, has anyone got a Scythe Ninja to fit on one of these yet? Problems?

Thanks SR - it's a pretty hard thing to test for. I don't know if it's possible to select which graphics the mb boots with when both are present, or if it will automatically use PCIe if it's there. I think there is a setting in the NF-M2 BIOS for 'Init Display First', so that may do it. I'd be inter...

Is anyone running an NF-M2 nview with discrete graphics?

Can you determine whether the board shuts down the integrated graphics while discrete graphics are active (ie it doesn't use as much power in itself)?

Well I think drives have different systems for throttling speed and noise (unless they don't have them at all, in which case people use generic software solutions like the Nero throttling utility). I understand that some drives have a system that throttles speed only when playing Movie DVD's and MP3...

Thanks for the reply, very useful to know. If you have experience of this feature of Plextor, can you tell me how well it works? 1. Is it quiet? Under all circumstances? How quiet? 2. Is the feature specifically aimed at (and only suitable for) DVD/MP3 playback, or is it adaptive (the speed of the d...

Speed control on Plextor drives

I have just ordered a PX-755A. I need this drive to be as quiet as possible, and I understand that the drive has a 'silent mode' that can be activated through software. What I need to know is, does this software make a one-off change in the drive to put it into 'silent mode' and then I never have to...
