New build I just threw together. Nice specs but nothing outrageous from a noise perspective. Re: FS: MiniITX Motherboard Tray

Well, a 90-degree cable usually goes "down" (towards the circuit board of the laptop drive), so I can't envision it working with the screw mounts in the middle of the board since that means that the plugs wouldn't be close enough to the edge of the tray for a 90-degree cable. Either way, I'd still t...

Re: FS: MiniITX Motherboard Tray

If the drive mounts on the bottom of the tray, then I guess that means 90-degree SATA cables won't work, right?

I can probably pick one up just for the possibilities of doing something fun in the future. :)

@AznJason: It appears you would screw the drive to the holes on the right side of the motherboard (3rd photo).

Re: File server needs silencing

I replaced the fan on my Areca ARC-1880i with a Scythe Mini-Kaze. I needed new screws to mount it, but it did a good job. My temps went up from ~41C to ~50C but the noise became infinitely better.

Re: 130W ATX power supply fanless + 120W AC adapter 69$

i think i'm going to buy one of these to see if it can support a powered pci-express card (passive radeon 5750). i don't really mind if it can't, since i can just run without the video card if needs be, but it's piqued my curiosity. the plan is to use the two molex connectors (on the 20-pin cable a...

Based on sneaker's picture: Image

It looks like a proper plug instead of one you route out the back and plug in to a rear USB port.

Re: Vertex 2 - which version do I have?

It's a 120 GB and it shows up as 111 GB. But then it could be both 1) and 3). So which is it? Depends on when you got it. The toolbox will only show that it has a 32Gbit die size. Realistically, if you got it late last year, it should be 32/34nm. If you got it just now, it's probably 25nm. There's ...

Re: Vertex 2 - which version do I have?

I recently bought a OCZ Vertex 2. As far as I understand, there are three versions of this drive: 1) The original 34nm version 2) The controversial first 25nm version that was slower and had less usable space 3) The updated 25nm version that is supposed to be as fast as the original and have the sa...

Re: Antec Solo Build

but getting everything to work with a power brick and two Winmates was a PAIN! What was the problem? Was it the winmates or was it something else? Mostly it was that there wasn't much space free for the winmates. I could only put one along the bottom of the case (since I had 2 2.5" drives) and then...

Nice build, very powerful! How's the noise level on that EVGA GTX 560? The GTX 560 is pretty good, although it's still the loudest fan in my box. The soft-mounted Samsung HD204UI's generate a little more hum than it though. Any chance you could mention the model of heatsink you used? Looks like a 1...

What does this computer do besides being completely bad ass? I've never seen so many cores and such a powerful GPU used together. Is the Samuel 17 a perfect fit for a Sugo SG05? The 71mm height seems to fit perfectly under the 78mm clearance of a SG05. Even more clearance if you use a Scythe 120x12mm fan.

The 5750 has a TDP of 86W if I'm not mistaken. With two Winmates you'll have 260W. Depends on what brick you're using of course but two Winmates is quite a lot if you ask me. I'm going to put it into a Q07 , which has space underneath the slot, but only one slot. I'll probably desolder it rather than hacking it off, but I'll give removing the port and trying to keep the pins spaced apart with an eraser or something so it resembles a blocked off port before doing that.
