Re: ZFS under windows...

You could look it forever and realise that nothing is really 100% fail safe... but I'm not going that far. Just something with some layer of drive failure protection. RAID 5, Raid Z... doesn't matter. Just something that will let me lose a drive but keep the data, then rebuild. I also don't want to ...

Re: ZFS under windows...

NTFS isn't going to allow me to build a RAID 5/6 type setup thats expandable in any way... hence the initial idea of using ZFS in a VM. The other option is something like a Drobo, but the 8 disk models are about 1k. I was just thinking if there are any NAS linux distros that do a simliar thing with ...

Re: ZFS under windows...

Not sure exactly what you mean by "ZRAID and native". Do you mean like, a solution where you don't use virtual disk files on the host but rather raw disks (or even a bare-metal OS not virtualized), or a filesystem that behaves like ZFS? In the latter case, btrfs for Linux is coming along very nicel...

Re: ZFS under windows...

It seems you've done more research into it than me! I was just looking at this enclosure and want a file system I can expand over time. http://www.google.co.uk/products/catalog?q=Edge10+DAS801t&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-a&cid=4728526587339288710&ei=8x5UTavGBYyGzAXUrKH_Aw&sa=button&ved=0CA8QgggwAjgA#sc...

Re: ZFS under windows...

I was just thinking about this again and stumbled upon my old thread! Didn't realise someone had actually done it! I ended up setting up a 4 disk RAID 5 with 1TB drives... with an ICR9 on my P5E-VM HDMI. Now I'm thinking of expanding it which is a problem and thought about ZFS again. I could buy 4 x...

Silverstone LC10-E fan recomendations?

My current setup is an Antec Fusion case, Ninja Mini cooler and a Q6600 oc'd to 3ghz. At the moment the Q6600 gets way too hot but the main reason I need a new case is I need more room for storage and I can fit 7 drives in a Silver stone LC10-E. Does anyone have a similar Silverstone case? Im wonder...

lol. doesn't seem like such a good idea now! im certainly not risking losing my data to try it. if i had a load of 1tb drives lying around i would but i can't afford that and a new case at the mo. thats very annoying as I have a 1tb, 320gb and a 160gb i was going to stick in a raidz pool and use tha...

ZFS under windows...

im not sure if this is the most genius idea or most stupid idea but what do you think of this... i want to use zfs for my media centre to store my movies etc. this is because it offers raid-z redundancy and i can use whatever drives i have lying around and add more when i need them. the other thing ...

Its idling around 45C I think, and under full load continues over 80C. I have refitted the heatsink a hundred times. Its definatley on securely. Using the right amount of Arctic Silver 5 etc. Just doesn't seem to work very well. Was thinking of lapping it first and changing the fan setup but im usin...

Water cooled Antec Fusion/NSK2400?

Anyone know of a water cooler that would fit neatly in an Antec Fusion/NSK2400? Or maybe the radiator could sit on the outside of the fan mounts and fans could sit inside the chassis. It would need to cool a Q6600 G0 @ 3Ghz. Have tried a Scythe Ninja Mini and a Silverstone NT01 and both dont seem to...

I've now got my NT-01 v2 in and it seems to work fine passively, with just one standard case fan from the Antec fusion on its lowest setting! Almost dead silent now! Just checking out temps with speedfan and whilst encoding a DVD the core is currently at 65'C and rising... I assume this is a little ...

I'm using an ASRock 939s56 but I cannot tell if the Silverstone NT-01 will fit. It seems quite close to the Intel board used above. Any body had any luck with a similar board?

How about the Thermalright SI-98 or SI-128's for passive cooling? I've been trying to get hold of a passive heatsink in the UK and am finding it a bit difficult! Even harder trying to find one that fits in the ANtec Fusion

thanks for the suggestions! i was looking at the silverstone after i saw your post but my motherboard won't allow it to sit in the same position. do you think it would be much hotter if the heatsink was sitting sideways as opposed to next to the fan?

Antec Fusion Passive Cooling

Hi all,

I was just wondering what heatsinks would work well to passively cool my Antec Fusion case. I am just running an Athlon 64 3200+.

Any ideas?

Thanks
