Re: speaker recommendation

I'll add my standard $0.02 here for speaker reccomendations: go listen in person first! seriously. Leave your checkbook/Credit Card/Cash at home. Grab your 1-2 of your favorite CDs and go visit a high end audio store. Listen to your music on their $50,000 system. Can you tell a difference from your ...

Hrm... -advmethods on the gpu client? I gotta try that and see what happens. Hopefully it wont cook my 285, but if it does, thats an excuse to upgrade.

I recently got a new PC and jumped on the SSD bandwagon. Intel X25 80GB and a WD cavair black 2TB. About 2months after I got the PC, the WD drive started dropping offline for no visible reason. all diagnostics I ran came back with no errors, so I RMA'd it and its been fine so far. Same concept as the stick-on feet from scdr -- get some space between the bottom of your laptop and whatever its sitting on.

ok im setup with a passkey now. And I found the issue with the smp client - it was set to run at 'idle' priority instead of low -- thats now fixed. I also fired up my older Opteron box and set it running. According to the Hfm monitor its getting just over 3kppd. Nothing to sniff at there. So both sm...

well both the SMP client and GTX285 are now going strong. I average about 6k-7k PPD with both of them running.
Im still figuring out win7, so re-installing the SMP client fixed it up nicely.

The i7 980x gets 1500-2k ppd all by itself, so im happy about that part.

do you have another PSU you can try in your system? not sure if how probably it is for a PSU to fail in one spot but not another. However - this sounds like the PUS has been slowly dying over a long peroid of time, and in the process taking out other bits and pieces of your system. If that is the ca...
