Sorry for the delay. Thank you *ALL* for the feedback. Several of you made suggestion which I believe helped narrow the issue: - RoGuE mentioned an 3-prong outlet tester. Finding one at the local hardware store was easy, and considering it was $4, I figure having one might be useful. In this case ho...

Diagnosing occasional shutdown
Hello everyone, Hoping the SPCR community can help me with a nagging issue with a brand new build. Sometimes when touching the computer's metal case or inserting a memory stick into a USB port, the computer will "seem" to shut down. I say "seem" because though the monitor goes black, nothing seems r...

Another thought. Typically, the modem isn't alone but it's accompanied by a router and/or switch, which may be wireless.
If power consumption is de rigeur, one may want to consider an all-in-one modem, 4 wired ports + wireless router such as this.

Unless something is broken or D: is too small for the Windows directory, does it need to be changed? Do you simply want Windows on C: because you're used to seeing it that way? I recently build a system for a friend. The computer has one of those card readers. For some reason, it saw each "drive" of...

Messages in the Sent box have clearly been sent. They've left your computer but there's no telling if they'll arrive at destination (you'll get a bounced back message if they don't usually) or if they're been read. Messages in the Outbox are in a queue waiting to be processed for sending. Normally, ...

pretty easy to figure, using the Liberal logic of some of these posts. Since human life boils down to money....it costs too much to put him to death, and it also costs way to much to keep him in jail, just let him go free. Consider his punishment the minor embarrassment he's suffered Maybe it makes...

Seraphyn, it may be counter intuitive but the math is easy once you realize the cost of the death penalty is mostly due to the trial costs as opposed to the cost of just "killing him." In effect, you're paying for the time of the court, including judge(s), lawyers on both side, paralegals, court rep...

By all means, if someone is convicted of first degree murder, put them in prison and throw away the key. If you believe that part of the problem in society is the desensitization to violence and death, then surely you would agree the justice system itself stay out of the business of killing. If you ...

I like grazzhoppa's idea of the community meeting. However I don't think you need to blow your entire budget on advertising for it.
