Yeah, mounting however is different with Intels boards and AMD's boards. While AMD's installation is foolproof, LGA-775 boards should be removed so you can push all 4 push pins down and lock and make sure its locked. If you don't take MB out, you have change that one of the four pins is not secured...

Arctic Silver "settle in" period?
I just recently upgraded to AS5 thermal paste on my Ninja/4600+. I initially used the "dot in the middle" technique, but it didn't seem to spread well, so I switched to a very light "x" pattern which seemed to work better. I must say this is the easiest thermal paste I've ever used -- it just glides...

none. both have poor mounting system. the Kama Cross will make your sys temps higher ( according 2 reviews) the ninja is a POS ( according my experience) go thermalright instead. In my experience, the Ninja mounting system is very easy and secure. I'm using it on a S939 board, and I didn't even hav...

I scoured the web, and everything I saw told me MCE requires a DX9-compliant video card -- which the Voodoo3 3000 definitely isn't. I did try the 6200LE, and it works fine in 2D mode, but once I install the Forceware drivers, it just blacks out. That's when I found out it requires AGP 2.0 (I thought...

well, what i have to say is that the voodoo3 had a change in drivers to make it compatible with MCE when MCE came out. which was a while ago. bonestonne, which drivers are you talking about? Turns out the 6200LE requires AGP 2.0, while my board only has AGP 1.0. I tried using the Voodoo3, but so fa...

Quick question: if I get a heatsink with dual 50mm fans like this, I can replace those with a single 100mm fan using just the bottom two holes, right?

Correction: mine DOESN'T have a duct. Either it never did, or I lost it somewhere along the way. Anyway, it definitely DOES have a hideous 40mm fan on the heatsink. Once I get the OS up and running, I'll find out if I have any temperature sensors so I can experiment with passive cooling. I can't ima...

Thanks for the suggestions! Billy, that first heatsink is actually quite similar to the one that's on there already. That makes me optimistic as to my options. Hopefully there's a thermal sensor so I can tell whether passive is okay. I've also discovered that the old Dell PSU's use standard 80mm mou...

Replacement for a slot-type CPU cooler?
I've got a slot 1 PIII with a nasty little 40mm fan attached. I may try running it passive, but if that doesn't work, what are my options for quiet cooling? I'd like to avoid drilling if possible.

Yeah, mine has a duct too. I haven't looked at it closely yet, but I'm hoping I can transfer it over into the Centurion. Depends whether it's connected to the case or the motherboard. BTW, I chose the Centurion because of the mesh front. The PSU connector on the motherboard is non-standard, which me...

Well, I already pulled the trigger on the 6200LE  . Oh well, I'm sure it will give better performance than the Voodoo3. I'll only be watching standard-def DVDs and using the "My Music" interface -- it should be sufficient. As for the CPU, it's a slot 1, unfortunately. I've read anecdotal repor...

Okay, I've decided to go for it. Apparently this PC uses the ATX standard. So, armed with the pin layouts found here , I'm going to try moving the motherboard and PSU into a Centurion. Then I'll have to see what can be done to quiet the CPU cooler, etc. I'll be upgrading the GPU to a 6200LE. Wish me...

SPCR challenge: quieting a Dell Dimension XPS T500
Yup, you read that right. I have in my possession an old Dell Dimension XPS T500 upgraded to a PIII 1GHz with 768MB of RAM and a Voodoo3 AGP. My goal is to turn this into a quiet MCE client device at minimal cost. One thing I definitely want to change, however, is the case. I need something more liv...

Blocking air vents on the Solo?
I know some people have tried blocking vents on the Solo to direct airflow. I think I've also seen some examples of blocking unused drive bays. What I'm wondering is, what temperature differences (if any) have people gotten from these mods?

Looks like basically a Fusion with built-in IR receiver. It'll be interesting to see what price difference there is from the V1.

Just thought I'd share with you guys a response I got from OrigenAE support yesterday... Dear Sir, We expect the S10V so start being manufactured in 4 weeks. Allowing for shipping to the US, this would mean that stock should be available by the middle of August. Unfortunatly we do not have an ETA fo...

Do you ever have any problems with SATA power cables disconnecting from the drives? I've found SATA power cables to be horribly unreliable.
