Re: Antec ISK 300 Mini-ITX case
anyone know if this has room for 12.5 mm drives? Yes and no... Since I couldn't find an answer to this question anywhere on the web I did my own testing. You can fit a 12.5mm thick 2.5" HD in one of the two 2.5" "bays" in the Antec ISK 300. As you can see in the picture below it sits just a touch b...

I replaced 2 120mm Antec Tri-Cools with the 800RPM 120mm Noctua. They Noctua's are definitely quieter without the ULNA than the Antec's on low. They seem to blow a little more air too. I ended up using one with the ULNA adapter because I didn't need much airflow from it. The other I'm running withou...

As an FYI: The Ninja Rev. B will fit on a Gigabyte GS-M55plus-S3G motherboard (AM2), but will block the first memory slot. So, you're limited to running only 2 sticks of RAM if you want dual channel. It will also press on some of the rear capacitors around the CPU socket, but not hard enough to worr...

Re: 16GB SSD RiDATA MSRP $170
This looks promising! Hopefully a small but competitive market will develop for SSD drives. There are a ton of computers that could still easily run on 16GB. http://www.dailytech.com/article.aspx?newsid=5645 Transcend makes 2, 4, and 8GB models already, but the pricing isn't very good. My HTPC coul...

Will SSD drives be limited to a finite number of read/writes? From my experience, exisiting hard drive technology (when built properly) has the potential for a longer working lifetime than a USB flash drive. Yes, but with proper wear-leveling (part of the drives firmware) and disabling of the Windo...

Do the silicon isolator posts/bolts work when used in conjuction with the rubber/silicon gaskets? Like these ? I'll answer my own question since I've got the answer now after trying it. Yes, you can use a rubber/silicon gasket along with the rubber/silicon mounting posts. I used both to mount some ...

These are pricey fans. I think I'll stick with Yate Loons, but here's a company that sells the NF-S12-800s & -1200s for $17.57 and claims they are in stock: http://www.us.ncix.com/search/index.php?q=noctua&minprice=Min.+Price&maxprice=Max.+Price Resellerratings shows this place seems safe enough to...

has anyone found where to get your hands on the noctuas in the USA? i briefly looked at eBay, but there only seemed to be one store based in the UK selling them for something like $30 plus shipping from europe. :( There are several US retailers now. Thanks, rei. This is the Gigabyte 7600GT I was referring to. Sure looks like a 2-slotter to me. Pricewise, I could reasonably do a 7900GS, if there'a quiet cool one. I see them for about $150-$175. But haven't seen any fanless ones. But again, no point is spending money unless there's performance b...

I'm not really sure what XFX were thinking of with this one - I doubt if the Fatal1ty admirers will be tempted by a mere 7600GT, even a hotted-up and silent one. It seems more suited to HTPC use, as apparently PureVideo likes high core clock speeds but doesn't seem particularly dependant on the ext...

Yes, it works on my 4200+ (65W) AM2. It doesn't correctly ID the CPU, but it shows the speed correctly and has the temperatures of both cores.winguy wrote:Does Core Temp v0.94 work for AM2 CPUs?

I've got one of these Gigabyte heatpipe coolers on my 2500+ Barton. It's pretty quiet with the inline resistor adapter. It also will mount using only the socket (doesn't need holes in the mobo).

I'm using the M1 input on the projector. I'm using a Dell brand M1-DVI adapter (I did try VGA also just for the heck of it, but got the same 640x480 results). Sounds like you need an nVidia card where you can tell it to treat the display as a HDTV and force the timings. Sounds like the EDID data is...
