Silly ways (that work) to dampen a case

I've figured out a few ways to dampen a case that are a bit silly but work pretty well. You will need towel, string, pillow... Remove side of case and tie string at the back top of case and other end in the front top of the case. Fold towel so it's slightly smaller than panel you removed and hang th...

Re: Corsair RM Series intro'd

I'm curious about how loud it gets when the fan does start. My current psu is silent enough up to about 250w powerdraw from the wall then it ramps up quickly. I have my 7950 undervolted to be able to stay under that limit. Looking into the future it doesn't exactly look like graphics cards will draw...

Re: New old waterblocks

hmm, not sure if that would work or not. And I haven't checked if the blocks would work with regards to other components on the 7950. And since I currently have an accelero extreme on, it's a bit much work to remove it and put it back on to see if the waterblock would fit... I'll keep pondering and ...

New old waterblocks

So, I've managed to find brand new zalman 8800GT/GTS and 3850/3870 waterblocks for stupidly cheap so had to buy one of each. Anyone have any idea if either would fit on my amd 7950? Or if anyone can suggest any other use for them? Hang them on a wall for decoration? I dunno  I can even get mor...

Re: Quitest VGA Cooler

I can recommend the arctic cooling accelero xtreme 7970. Very silent despite having 3 fans and cools very well. Costs a bit and takes a while to install and the glue they provide takes 5 hours to dry according to the manual but it's more like 24... But it's awesome after installing is done. (I insta...

Re: Problem with undervolting new 7950

I'm using MSI afterburner to overclock. I have turned off hardware acceleration in firefox and now it only goes up to 500Mhz. Strange since I did try that before but it didn't work, must have been some weirdness since I then had the card in the lower PCIE x16 slot. Turned out that slot is only x4 sp...

Problem with undervolting new 7950

I have a problem with undervolting my 7950 card. It's an asus 7950 DCII top that runs the core on 900Mhz/1.064volt by default and I've clocked it down to 800Mhz/0.9Volt and from the little testing I've done it seems to be stable in furmark atleast. Problem is that when watching youtube for example i...

That sanyo PLV-Z4000 does seems like it would be silent enough. Only problem is that the cheapest I found it here was about 2100 euros so a bit much. But I'll have a look at their other models and see what I can find. Thanks for mentioning sanyo :D I didn't even know about them since where I live it...

I've been thinking that a "hush box" might work decently well but I don't really know how well. If you don't know what that is, it's really simple. 1. build box 2. put projector inside box 3. mount large silent fan to cool projector in box  Since new projectors tend to have small fans they mos...

silent video projector?

Anyone here know of any silent videoprojectors? Seems like most people on other forums just say to turn up the audio more to drown out the projector... Not a solution IMO. Some years ago I got a benq mp730 that was rated at 30db and that turned out to be loud enough that I only used it for 40 hours ...

I changed the motherboard and the case. The p180 mini does have a 200mm fan but I haven't actually checked how much that uses but can't imagine it would be that much more than a regular fan. I'm have to go check the bios, but I'm pretty sure I did enable speedstep in bios but it does seem like the c...

Power consumption problem

I just "upgraded" from an atx to a matx motherboard but it uses about 20w more now at idle  The atx one is a abit ib9 with p965 chipset and the new matx is an asus p5kpl-am that uses g31 so just going by the tdp of the chipsets the asus should use a few w less so not really that much of a dif...

zoob's way of mounting is definitely easier than the default way. Remounting the cooler did improve performance about 4c. And if one screws down the nuts so the bolt gets just up the top of the it's easy to tighten them all the same amount :D

Atleast here the 7900gs is the same price as the x1950 pro and slower. If you want anything cheaper the go for 7600 gs/gt or x1650 pro/xt. Can't help you with the hr-03 though.

From a little quick looking around max temperatures for mosfets are from 70 to 225c so not helpful at all...
