Very few dead Americans please, bluefront, can you explain to me how the life of someone who happened to be born in america, is worth more than someone born in iraq, or anywhere else? Americans are more valuable to Americans, just like Britons are more valuable to Britons. Your livelihood depends o...

I wouldn't worry about it, unless it keeps happening. Make note of the project number when it does happen. There's a couple of bad WU that the FAH server will assign you once or twice after a new SMP install. It's almost like it needs to try them on new machines. I can't remember the project # but t...

You need to be assured that there is a solution to your problem, you just need to be more methodical with your diagnosis. As I see it, potential problems are, in order: 1. User error 2. Motherboard (on 2nd unit, so double failure unlikely) 3. Power Supply (ruled out?) 4. RAM 5. Vid Card 6. Other wei...

Re: You were given free will - use it.
While I know very little about Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics In Washington, you're definitely wrong about the above. Thank you, I stand corrected. The headline on their website is misleading, appearing to defend Jefferson when in fact they seem on the side of justice in this case. H...

Re: You were given free will - use it.
After he died he criticized the current war. Your location may be undisclosed, but are you sure you are sober? ;) CREW is just another left-wing front group with a misleading title. If they care about "responsibility and ethics in Washington", why would they vehemently defend William Jefferson (D-L...

And speaking of lies GWB said he was going to fire the person who leaked the name Valerie Plame. Guess what? That person didn't even get shot in the face by a draft dodger. GWB can't fire him, because the leaker was Richard Armitage http://msnbcmedia1.msn.com/j/msnbc/Components/Photos/041013/041013...

I would try to test and swap components, like PSU, RAM, even CPU, just to make sure, before RMAing the motherboard. Hopefully you have access to swappable parts and a PSU tester. It would suck to get a new mobo and fry it again with a bad PSU (for example). Although it does sound like a bad mobo. Go...

Hi, Your proposed system is similar to mine. You won't need the extra case fan. If I did it over again, I'd get the Thermalright Ultra (and the fan of my choice) instead of the NH-U12F, although I do like the Noctua. Since the 8800GTS fan was quieter than expected, I left it alone. I don't think an ...

Hi, With windows clients I've had bad streaks of poor point units (PPUs?) like the 186 pointer with standard client and 1523 pointer with SMP. Those always yield less points per day for me. Then it turns around and I get hot streaks. It happens. If you're concerned, check logs, and/or install a moni...

Hi, I see you have a pretty heavy OC on the machine in your sig. Is it 12 hours Orthos stable? Any problems with heat or stability? Have you run any health checks on the hard drives? Starting the SMP client as a scheduled task keeps it off the taskbar too :) I periodically check the task manager to make sure it's still folding. Or I just fire up speedfan to verify my system is still blazing hot ("60C... yep, it's working!") I hate those 1500 point WUs (2610), they take longer th...

I think it's a combination of the Noctua and Sonata. The Noctua is not the greatest CPU heat sink fan (I'm using one). I don't have a Sonata III, but I have an older one and the airflow isn't great as stock. Improve airflow and/or replace HSF if you want better temps with no noise increase. If your ...

Re: Buzzy buzzy buzz buzz
I believe these hx520's all make noise. Some people may have a higher ambient noise, more isolating case, or louder fans to hear the noise of this supply. Here's some more data points: I've built 3 systems in the last few months with HX520 and the PSUs are all very quiet, no whine or buzz at all. I...

It's at stock, and probably closer to 800+ ppd if I leave it 24/7, which is basically is right now. My 6300 OC is getting around 1200 ppd, and the Athlon XP (4200? no OC) at work around 600 ppd. All running the Windows SMP client with -advmethods and -forceasm switches. I don't know how much extra c...
