I have hermit-like qualities, so I think I'd really enjoy it. I should have picked up on this! That's why you think deaf would be better than blind, you don't mind isolation from people too badly! Technology allows the blind to do almost everything, certainly chatting on the net is no problem. Born...

You make good points, but I actually work with the deaf and the blind! Believe me, deaf is far worse. Imagine never hearing laughter again.

Anyway, I wonder what that room cost to build, and if those panels are available for home theater use (in moderation!).

actually a lot of people enjoy it as relaxation therapy: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isolation_tank Can you pee in it? Bing in that chamber with headphones, how would you know anything is special about the room? If I were you I would get the Scythes. I got Nexus in mine. I have some Noctua 800 and 1200 and they are noisy fans compared to the Nexus.

The stock tri cools are noisy too.

I use nuts and bolts on those heatsinks. Cheap insurance for a couple bucks. I put a little piece of electrical tape on the back of the mobo, poke a hole in it and push the bolts through, so the bolt heads don't short anything. M3 is the size, any length but I use 25mm

I don't think my S-12 550w was faulty, just noisy. Sure it was "quiet" but as we know, there is a world of difference between quiet, extremely quiet, inaudible and silent  I swapped the fan for a nexus 120mm, soft mounted with silicone gaskets and things. I cut out the grills too. I'm happy wit...

Yeah the 8800GTX is a monster. The holes in the case are 32mm (inch and a quarter) so the tubing and cable will fit very easily. Thats without the rubber grommets, with the rubber grommets left in place you can still get about a full inch of cable or tubes through.

You're welcome ;) The part you will have to cut or file is on the back edge of the panel, it is only a solid piece of plastic there so there are no layers to separate. You will still get a good seal with the case there. I have the middle fan installed and there is 258mm of room for a card between th...

The side panels do block the 2 screw holes for that side of the fan, but only just, only about halfway through the screw hole. It would be very easy to cut or file a little of the side panel to clear the holes.

OK I just tested and it looks like I can get a better result by spreading a thin layer with a razor. I actually used the back edge of a surgical scalpel, thin, long and straight. The line left a lot of compound between the HS and CPU. I hear that it's best to have as little compound as possible betw...

I just finished lapping my Ultra120Extreme and C2D. I wasn't going to but when I went to remount my little Zalman HS for the NB, I saw that only about a quarter of the AS5 had been touched, the Zalman wasn't flat. I checked it with a razor, 2 big ridges and a depression. I lapped it with glass and 3...

If you're doing it, it would be cool to have a full size AC vent ducted into your case, where the side panel should go, then venting out the rear and top. Imagine refrigerated air flooding your PC in the middle of summer. Make sure you close the vent when it's winter and you have the heating on

Thanks for all the advice. Considering the lack of gaming I do, the $20 restocking fee I just found out about and the inconvenience, I will stick with the 8500 with the HR-03A (just about to lap and mount) and try overclocking it if I need more performance and can figure out what OC'ing is all about!

I know how you feel! Even if there is something wrong with my example, I really wanted quiet, not just low noise.

I think I will replace the fan in the S12 550 with a nexus 1000rpm or noctua 800 or 1200 rpm I have spare.

I would keep them all on low but move the top fan to the centre location, at the back of the upper HDD cage, and remove all the grills and filters for extra quietness. Thats free and will be quieter. You might want to keep the filters, up to you but the inside gets dusty anyway and the filters restr...

Welcome to the forum. I have a P182 too but am still building it. Set all the fans to low, or even quieter is to get better fans like nexus real silent or the scythe ones.
