I have hermit-like qualities, so I think I'd really enjoy it. I should have picked up on this! That's why you think deaf would be better than blind, you don't mind isolation from people too badly! Technology allows the blind to do almost everything, certainly chatting on the net is no problem. Born...

actually a lot of people enjoy it as relaxation therapy: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isolation_tank Can you pee in it? Bing in that chamber with headphones, how would you know anything is special about the room? Being blind isolates you from objects, being deal isolates you from people. Eve...

It will be storing all my document, photos, videos (ie. the user folder in vista)etc so reliability will be important. cheers Just a tip, your hard drive is going to fail one day so make sure you have anything important continually backed up (like daily) on another HD, discs etc. It's not a matter of...

I don't think my S-12 550w was faulty, just noisy. Sure it was "quiet" but as we know, there is a world of difference between quiet, extremely quiet, inaudible and silent  I swapped the fan for a nexus 120mm, soft mounted with silicone gaskets and things. I cut out the grills too. I'm happy wit...

You're welcome ;) The part you will have to cut or file is on the back edge of the panel, it is only a solid piece of plastic there so there are no layers to separate. You will still get a good seal with the case there. I have the middle fan installed and there is 258mm of room for a card between th...

OK I just tested and it looks like I can get a better result by spreading a thin layer with a razor. I actually used the back edge of a surgical scalpel, thin, long and straight. The line left a lot of compound between the HS and CPU. I hear that it's best to have as little compound as possible betw...

I just finished lapping my Ultra120Extreme and C2D. I wasn't going to but when I went to remount my little Zalman HS for the NB, I saw that only about a quarter of the AS5 had been touched, the Zalman wasn't flat. I checked it with a razor, 2 big ridges and a depression. I lapped it with glass and 3...

If you're doing it, it would be cool to have a full size AC vent ducted into your case, where the side panel should go, then venting out the rear and top. Imagine refrigerated air flooding your PC in the middle of summer. Make sure you close the vent when it's winter and you have the heating on

Thanks for all the advice. Considering the lack of gaming I do, the $20 restocking fee I just found out about and the inconvenience, I will stick with the 8500 with the HR-03A (just about to lap and mount) and try overclocking it if I need more performance and can figure out what OC'ing is all about!

Thanks for the update. I just recorded some video, in 1 you can hear the ticking clearly when nothing else is connected. In vid 2 ticking is gone when everything is hooked up, but fan is loud at idle, all goes quiet when fan stopped. I will try to post a link somehow. Trying to host the vid at putfi...

I would keep them all on low but move the top fan to the centre location, at the back of the upper HDD cage, and remove all the grills and filters for extra quietness. Thats free and will be quieter. You might want to keep the filters, up to you but the inside gets dusty anyway and the filters restr...

Welcome to the forum. I have a P182 too but am still building it. Set all the fans to low, or even quieter is to get better fans like nexus real silent or the scythe ones. How is your hard drive mounted and what gear do you have in the case? Any case would be noisy with those tri-cools on medium, ne...

Surprised to hear that the S12II would be noisy. S12 won praise for exactly the opposite. I've got an S12II-430 I'm picking up today, let you know how it compares to my SmartPower 2.0. What are you comparing your S12II to, and do you have RPM readings from the fan? As the fans in Seasonics are cont...

I just plugged into my old (current) PC and the ticking noise vanished but it is till quite noisy. I stopped the fan and it was very quiet. Is it ok to swap the fan for a nexus and control that fan with a digital thermal sensor from my mcubed t-balancer bigng? I guess it would work ok, but would rem...

I emailed shopping square about RMA just incase I have to. Tonight I will try plugging it all in to my current PC, replacin...
