I'm considering buying the WD10EARS. How audible is the sound it makes when it parks its heads? The head parking is inaudible. You won't hear it as the drive head moves through air to a rest position. If you're worried about "clicking noises", don't be, those noises have nothing to do with the park...

I would do some research on the TruePower 2 series from Antec if you want to know more. From prior experience and research, I would not be concerned about your Antec TP2 PSU failing. Unless the ampage draw is very near or over what is rated/labeled for the +12V rail(s) on the side of the PSU. In wh...

6 HDDs and 750GBs a piece? Sounds like you're trying to build a NAS cluster. :D I'm not sure if the P180 would that effective in keeping out the noise of 6 HDDs (WD especially) running at full spin. Although, you can get some foam/soft-foam padding and pad the sides and such of the P180 to h...

I have a similiar system setup planned for build next summer. The Antec P180 series already comes with a very nice filter. The case is well thought out and built like the older server towers (heavy gauge steel). In addition the cases also feature some noise dampening. In a bit of difference, I plan ...

Erm. What performance difference between dual-cores and single-cores? I can't think of many programs that use the second core (or 3rd or 4th for that matter). Perhaps it is due to an increased L2 cache, higher FSB, better architecture? (I apologize for the off-topicness) You need to make sure that y...

Most likely the latter. For future reference, don't assume that b/c one "recognized" brand works, then the rest would work in a given case. A good example, some earlier batches of NeoHE PSUs would not work with any ASUS board whatsoever (this was supposedly later fixed). And good choice with the Ant...

Das I'm having a hard time trying to find a possible path to a solution for your problem. Perhaps you can answer a few more questions? + What other components do you have connected to your PSU besides those listed in your signature? + Did you power on with all the components (fans and other misc.) ...

I hope that you are aware that by using the "Paper Clip" test on the PSU, you are putting strain on the internal components. I would not recommend repeatedly repeating this test. The "wind-up" of the Tt's PSU fan and associated noise could be because the PSU is trying to cool down the components. Us...

Hmm, I went back and did a little extra digging, the older stock NeoHE (before v.4) has issues with mainly ASUS mobos. So if you do end up getting an older Neo, you could try asking Antec for a replacement, but I doubt they'll give you one for free.

My suggestion is to replace the supplied PSU with another brand PSU (one that you know will offer no problems and is reliable). That's usually my experience when I purchase a case with a supplied PSU. I usually replace it to be on the safe side. And I understand both of you may want to save the extr...

Hmm, thanks for the advice and the PSU choices. I don't think I'm going to SLI the 8800GTX especially if the boost will only be minor compared to a 7950GT SLI. Not to mention I do want some breathing room in terms of power consumption. I'll just stick with the SeaSonic M12 500W. And modular power ca...

Yes I do plan on SLI with the 8800GTX, but that is a last performance boost resort (which I don't plan on doing for at least 1 1/2 years. Although I do plan on SLI'ing two 7950GTs.

Which PSU fits this build?

Okay, I'm stuck between choosing the SeaSonic 500W M12 (modular cabling) and the SeaSonic 600W M12 (modular cabling) . I did a estimate PS calculation with the eXtreme Power Supply Calculator (http://extreme.outervision.com/PSUEngine) which recommended a PSU of 531W. Here is my build: Intel Core 2 D...
