Read the SPCR review for how quiet the Studio is. I was under the same impression that the Studio was super sexy until I found out about the noise. That alone makes it worthless to me. I think the mac mini has got a huge appeal not only for use as a media center, but also as a server, and even as a...

I had been looking for these forever... I think they'd make a huge impact on noise and power consumption and I'm really confused as to why these drives aren't being given more exposure to the market. About Vista, yea, you'd need Vista to take advantage of the Flash memory, so it's not just extra cac...

It *seems* like its a 10W version, although I'm not sure as they don't mention it on their page. Would be enough for my small loop anyway :D
I like that little box :) But keep in mind that the DDC 10w is already silent with the plexi top ;)

I probably don't fall into the typical silence enthusiast category although silence is my main priority. I want the latest bleeding edge kit (at least when i buy it) and I want it silent. Let me explain. I've already made silent PC's - just use cheap, low power equipment and I'll get it quiet no pr...

I have no personal experience with the S80 but I did turn down an offer for a sample. I felt it's just too complex and fiddly, with really weird airflow design, to have even a chance of being a good case. Read Dan's Data's review carefully, and you'll get the same sense. He basically says it's no g...

I found this keyboard to be quieter than any laptop keyboard quieter than any Logitech keyboard I tried and much quieter than the Apple Pro keyboard: http://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-BUSINESS-HARDWARE-PACK-A4B-00007/dp/B0002WPS76/ref=sr_1_2/103-9471748-7343020?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1185002218&sr=...

I just bought this Microsoft business keyboard and it's by far one of the quietest I've ever used, it's complete difference from any other Logitech keyboard I've ever used. It doesn't have the typical Logitech clickety sound at all. And it's far softer and quieter than any laptop keyboard I've used ...

By _modded_ Laing you mean the acrylic top? Should I go with the pro or the ultra? The ultra adds 20% flow, but I have no clue if that's needed or wanted or at what price it comes (more noise, heatgeneration). Like you said there are two versions, the 10W and 18W. The 18W is considerably noisier, i...

I'd try a passive rad instead of a regular one, mainly for convenience and I think it could even cool better because there would be a larger metal area exposed to the cold fridge.

Have now replaced the stock top with the acrylic plexitop and am using the top part as the inflow.

Have also soft-mounted it by tossing out the reservoir that came with the kit (which prevented soft-mounting the pump).

It's now quiet!
Welcome to SPCR land :)

Also, the DDC stops at near 9 volts, so it's a fine line to play around, you can't undervolt that much. I'll agree with that but note that even a small reduction can take the edge off the pump's noise. Much better than 12V! FWIW, my DDC is powered through a Sunbeam Rheobus, and that channel's heats...

Why don't you guys just get the Petra/Laing DDCT-01? It's better than ALL of the Acrylic tops. Brendan There have been several reports where Petra's top is noisier than Alphacool's acrylic top. So this is a big no for SPCR standards. And, personally I prefer Alphacool's for the looks and the mounti...
