couple of days ago I played something on my rig and I realized that my passive x1950xt reached 130 C on the voltage regulators. so I tied a SlipStream on it and it worked like a charm. I think it reached around 70 C on load. as a side note, the slipstream blocked SATA channels 0 & 1 on my gigabyte M...

well, I believe I'm getting close to my goal. the latest addition is the OCZ Vendetta 2 with a SlipStream 500 fan. my CPU temps have decreased by 3 degrees celsius but my HDD and MB temps have increased by roughly the same amount. my next task is to try and direct the airflow in the case with some m...

well I managed to swap the PSU fan with a SlipStream without getting electrocuted. I also changed the Noctua with a SlipStream. for now I like it but unfortunately I didn't document the temps before swapping stuff today. now I just have to decide between Xigmatek and OCZ Vendetta2. Xigmatek is in hi...

I have an option to replace either the cpu or the gpu. the E6750 with E8400 or the x1950xt with 3850/3870. my question is which choice would be better if I'm trying to make my rig a bit more power efficient without downgrading the computing power of the system.

thanks

has anyone tried mounting an exhaust fan behind the PCI slots to cool the S1? it seems a 100mm would fit but would there be any significant benefit?

finally! I got my hands on a S1 today. I'll see how the temps behave these days. my room temp is quite high (29-32 C) so I'm not too happy. :(

I seem to have a similar problem on my 2nd PC. When idling it's not so noticeable but when I start, for example, the BOINC folding agent it becomes pretty annoying. I opened up the case and listened a bit and it seems it's coming from the PSU. I stopped the fan so it's not it. I know it's not the sa...

I guess I'll lend a muscle. I can't promise much because I'm sharing my PC with 2 other users at home so continuity is questionable. and I'm crunching for a while now with a couple of friends on the BOINC client.

just an update on SprayCool: It's a general principle of electrical engineering that volts and fluid don't mix, which is why one is ill-advised to balance a Pepsi can on one's CPU. I first saw SprayCool technology at the Navy League show in Washington a year ago, and the sight of a computer in a tra...

thanks laserred but my concern is with the gigabyte board since it has the CPU socket positioned really high on the board and I'm worried it is too close to the PSU intake.

Does anyone have any experience with Antec Solo + Scythe Ninja + Gigabyte P35-DS3 Rev.1 combination? Or Thermalright Ultra-120 eXtreme (instead of Ninja). I did read about some problems with Ultra-120 and the Solo case. And I would like to keep the airflow mostly horizontal. On the other hand, I am ...

as someone mentioned earlier, I guess it all comes down to demonstrating the lowered noise on their own machines. until then it is hard to explain.

Do your friends think you are crazy?

I did a little search and didn't find anything so... I had a couple of friends at home yesterday so I asked them to come to my room and hear the noise of my PC. After they heard it they all looked at me like I was some kind of a freak and sad that I had a problem. This is not the first time that som...

Same problem here... I suspected the X1950XT which is very hot and does make a noise but I have a passive vision for it. Sadly the Tagan fan is almost on the same noise level with GPU. Thanks for suggestions. Btw. I believe this is my first post so greetings to everyone.
