I've been following your build on bit-tech and I remember thinking "Someone should post this on spcr". :) Amazing idea, very ambitious and very very well executed so far! Can't wait to see some cooling results from this monster :) Looking at it I just wonder what you have planned for the large area ...

Sure, but I should mention It's not quiet at the settings I currently run, all my fans are at their max for these settings. I want to keep my cores below 60c for 24/7 folding. It's at 3600mhz @ 1.4825v(bios), my case is a p182 using gentle typhoons for top and rear exhaust (both at 1395rpm). There's...

The mugen 2 should do nicely and will probably be cheaper than a ninja all things considered. I was very impressed with how quiet it was on my stock q6600, the included pwm fan is really good. I'm not sure what rpm's it was running under load at stock speeds as it's been overclocked and running fold...

So I felt posting my experiences could be valuable, since no one had mentioned anything other than assumptions regarding the bending question. I agree that posting your experiences is good. I hope you didn't take what I said as being directed at you. I was just cautioning people. Here is an article...

I'm not so sure they'd vary that much between manufacturers. Given how many heatpipe coolers there are out there, I'd imagine most manufacturers just use the cheapest heatpipes they can get. Of course you're right in saying I can't guarantee the OP won't break his heatsink, but I'm not the only one ...

Here's another review on the 480 that covers folding and has (slightly) more data than the one from anandtech.

I just wanted to say that bending heatpipes is actually fairly easy. You just need to be gentle with them, keep in mind that they're hollow. I've done it to an old big typhoon heatsink (also removed 33% of its fins to make it work passively) and it still works just fine. I don't know how much room y...

If you're not afraid of some DIY you could use your accelero on the gtx260. I just made a different bracket so I could mount it on mine. I have two 120mm fans on there and it works extremely well. With the fans at ~1000rpm it keeps my card at 52C while folding while being overclocked to its limit, I...

*snip* there's no sane reason to stick with one or the other brand unless you are a shareholder. *snip* I can assure you every linux user who's had the questionable pleasure of owning an ati card will tell you this is not true. If you intend on using linux there's a very good reason to prefer nvidi...

I modded an old cpu heatsink I had to fit on my 9600XT. I just bent the fins apart for better airflow and drilled holes to match the holes from the original vga heatsink. Even though the card wasn't passive originally it works realy well as it is now. http://img376.imageshack.us/my.php?image=vgaclos...

I realy fail to see the point of those pressure groups promoting the french language. I think they're fighting a lost (and pointless) battle here. There's a lot of good arguments to be made for being (at least) bilingual, and I think it's silly to frown upon speaking/writing english (is this case). ...

thanks jeremy :) The intake fan is already mounted using rubber grommets, and I have an extra set for the nexus, I just have to cut out some excess plastic on the nexus for it to be able to fit. Any ideas on how to best tackle my noisy psu? (maybe I should have posted about the PSU in another part o...

newbie's attemp at silencing an old cheap no-name case

Hello everyone, this is my first post here, and my first attempts at silencing my pc. This site showed me alot of neat tricks, so I figured I'd share my results on applying them. Any feedback is greatly appreciated, as I'm realy new to the whole silent PC idea, so don't be shy :) My case is a cheap ...
