Use the M1As with the PSUs fan circutry as they are close to the same db as the L1A at low voltage and have the added benefit of being able to move more air should the need arise (this is a "sorta" quote of MikeC). This thread will give you some info on 2.5 HDs. The 'cudas are really quiet especially if they are isolated from the tin case. there is some question about the cuda IV being quieter than the newer cuda V. I've only had a V and it's very quiet to my ear.

Brian, You'll need 4.75" x 4.74" at least to put in a 120 fan and I'd allow a tiny bit extra so you can make sure that the fan, once it's mounted on the isolators, does not touch the case.
