I agree with you, Dukla.... no way that the heat generated by the CPU melted the solder. Pure lead melts @ 325c, the solders that I use in my work are closer to 400c. All the plastic in the area would have been long gone before the solder liquified. There was somebody asleep at the thermometer the d...

Morty, I've been very happy with my current setup. I have made a couple of revisions since this post. The first was moving the 120mm fan from the intake/HD cage to the rear as an exhaust and the second has been the modification of the drive tray that contains the 'cuda V. The fan in the tray is a 60...

you might give CoolCases.com a try for the 350w Fortron.... Katana Man and others say he's a good guy to deal with and ships to Canada too, if my memory serves me correctly

I want some of that weave stuff! Tidy is a good thing. You have a source to share :?:

ahhhhh... so that is idependant of the fan. so I could mod htis with a quieter panaflo m series fan and it would work well. Well, the RPM lead comes off of the stock Atec PSU fan, if you want to maintain the RPM monitoring you'll need to get the Panaflo that supports RPM monitoring. For the M it's ...

Cowsclaw, If it's 'hot" to the touch I'd say it's probably too hot to run without a fan.

Edit: I re-read your post.... wer'e sorta comparing apples and oranges here. I was talking about a 125-150MHz card.... I couldn't find any info on the chipset you have but I suspect that it's much faster.

Use the M1As with the PSUs fan circutry as they are close to the same db as the L1A at low voltage and have the added benefit of being able to move more air should the need arise (this is a "sorta" quote of MikeC). He's addressed this in the forums somewhere but I can't seem to locate it right now.

Looks like the clock speed on this card is either 125-150MHz. I'd sure give it a try. Unhook the fan and try your favorite graphics intensive game. If you start seeing any artifacts or other non normal visuals it is probably going to need some type of cooling. The finger temp test will also tell you...

If it's THIS PSU I'd go with the M1A. It seems to have the same setup (Dedicated Fan Only power connectors) as the 380 that came w/ my Sonata case. If you want to maintain the PSU fan monitoring you'll need to find a BX which has a RPM lead. Digi-key will have them back in stock the first part of Ju...

Is it a matter of just unplugging one fan and plugging another in? Or do I have to do some soldiering? The fan connector in the Sonata's 380 is a nonstandard (for fans) unit. Shouldn't be too much trouble to take the plug apart and solder in your new fan leads. I'm standing by till the Panaflo M1BX...

Brian, You'll need 4.75" x 4.74" at least to put in a 120 fan and I'd allow a tiny bit extra so you can make sure that the fan, once it's mounted on the isolators, does not touch the case.
