Cool review! Thanks a lot.
Does anybody know which of the (good) fans are available with a 4 pin connector that can be used to better monitor and control the fan speed?

can't find a wattage there. But I have to correct my previous posting: "VFD, Netzteil, Festplattenbox und DVD-Laufwerk sind im Lieferumfang nicht enthalten." Essentially: VFD, PSU, Harddrive cage and DVD are not included. I can't find any prices, so we'll have to see how expensive this little goodie...

built to be completly fanless (heatpipes), full size ATX, 3 PCI via riser card, 3 disks, VF-Display, external PSU. THIS IS A DREAM for all HTPCs! 335 Euros (~400 USD) may sound expensive, but take a good looking case (Silverstone, Zalman) + (external) PSU + VF-Display + good, quiet CPU cooler and th...

Just a clarification (may well be a dump) question: If I manage to get the external brick from Dell (in Germany), can I power a normal ATX board with this? Or do I need another converter? If I need a second converter, where to get one? And a second question: Is this the same with the Shuttle PSUs? B...

quote from the article: "PSU fan a bit too loud " I have the LC 04 and I think exactly the same. It's *a bit* too loud, but not much. I guess swapping the fan would help enough, but the fan is only 10mm thick and it's difficult to find an 80*80*10mm fan, especially if you're looking for a quiet one....

New AOpen Mini due out soon (hopefully)
AOpen will announce a new Mini PC at the cebit 2006 in March. Dailynews has the scoop . Pentium M, 945M chipset, DVI, 6*6inches, silver/blue (arguable), IR sensor, will be sold as a barebone with remote control. No word on VIIV. No word on the cooling solution, but it does look very proprietary, so ...

But I was able to get RMClock to work just fine and absolutly stable. http://cpu.rightmark.org/products/rmclock.shtml Just be sure to check "registered RAMs" (IIRC) in the advanced section. And deinstall eve...

Of course your voltages are a bit higher than mine, but not by that much. Remember that the normal core voltage of the Semprons is 1.4 volts, so everything under 1.2 actually is good. When you put your bios thresholds to 30 and 40 degrees your fan should be off when the CPU is at 4*200 and should be...

The quietest 2.5" drive with 5400 rpm ist the Scorpio 1 platter (40 GB). This is undisputed. You may find a 4200 rpm drive (good guess is Toshiba) that is a bit more silent. But these drives are much slower. Noise measurement is difficult: at idle? At load? How to weigh the different noises? Some fi...

Try the davanced settings of SpeedFan. Then select the appropriate chip (it may be sth. like ITExxyy or Winbond sth.). Check if you see sth there regarding fan control. My board (DFI Lanparty UT nF3 250GB) always controls the fan via BIOS and I have to switch that off with the advanced settings. Sor...

Remember the depth of the Silverstone (and DIGN) cases: 42 cm is rather large and many racks won't give you that much depth. I chose a Silverstone LC 04 for exactly that reason. This case takes a full size motherboard, but it will get very crowded inside. And you'll get only one AGP and one PCI (or ...

I'm not sure, if adjustable vcore is that important, when Cool'nQuiet is supported. In theory every CnQ enabled board should allow undervolting. It's important to use a software like CrystalCPUID or RMClock (which is what I use), that can set the multipliers and core voltages (AMDs standard drivers ...

If you put a low power CPU in it and a low power graphic card and a lower power harddisk, this definitly is possible. Your mobile CPU should work at much lower voltages than the default ones (I've seen someone here who has the new Venice-cores running at 1.1 volt at stock speed, which is nearly as g...

If the Venices run on the same voltage as the Turion, the 30 watt measurement would be quite plausible. Strange, that xbitlabs measured something completly different. But all I know is that the core voltage of the Venices is 1.40 volts (e.g. here ), which is way higher than Turion's stock voltage (1...

At low speed the CPU temperature is below 35 degrees and the CPU cooler is completely switched off. At high s...
