I've never seen this happen nor have I had any luck doing it at my local Fry's (San Jose). Even if you did, since the X2 4800+ is "free", you'd only get $90 back at most for the Gigabyte motherboard, and you'd be ending up with a CPU you don't want for about $50. Now, if you don't mind dealing with ...

I e-mailed an Antec rep and he replied 65mm clearance for the heatsink. The Minja is 115mm.

Hate to correct you, but your card DOES support 2560x1600. The max resolution you stated, 2048x1536 is the max resolution supported over VGA. According to ASUS documentation, all of their EN8600GT cards support dual-link DVI up to 2560x1600 32bit @60hz: link . Go under manual and check out the suppo...

Does anyone know the model or part number of the 320GB platter drive that Western Digital says is shipping now? And no, this question wasn't answered in any of the threads linked above. Update 1/25/2008: According to a close source at Western Digital, the WD3200AAKS model number is currently in use...

I had this problem with the Westinghouse (L2410NM), and then the Samsung (245BW), but then I got a Gateway (FPD2485W, the old one), and it doesn't have that problem no matter what brightness it is.

I got a nice deal on a Western Digital hard drive on boxing day. It was external but I opened it and took out the hard drive, and put in the computer directly. It is the 10EACS. First impression, the hard drive is a bit quitter then other Westerns I have used, but the seek sound is still there. I u...

They both have perpendicular recording, just that one notes it and the other doesn't. The only difference between the 2 is the cache size (cheaper one is 8MB, more expensive is 16MB). The choice is your's.

Less platters = less heat, and usually less noise. I can't comment on the noise level of the Seagate drive, as I don't own one myself, but I believe that it should be better then the WD.

Oh, sorry, that's the non-AA drive. $80 for 250GB just doesn't seem like a good deal to me when you can get 500GB for $100. Here's an alternative 250GB drive for $70 though. It's a single platter drive while the WD2500AAKS is a 2-platter drive.

Personally, if I were to buy a drive online, I would buy from newegg. They usually have the lowest prices with fast shipping and great customer service. For example, the WD2500KS goes for $70 on newegg

I have the very same drive as the one in your link (WD2500KS, non-AA), and it's not one of the quieter ones. After you tune AAM to 128, the seeks go down to an acceptable level but the idle noise is still pretty awful compared with some of the known quiet drives such as WD5000AAKS or HD501LJ. Beside...

If you have the money, you could try going for HR-03 x2, the top one would be folded over towards the CPU heatsink and the bottom one would be mounted facing the bottom. I doubt these would have any trouble cooling your cards passively, and moreover, they do not obstruct with the sli bridge. An Acce...

Actually, according to TG Daily, the WD 1TB will have 4 platters:
WD claims that the 4-disk 1 TB Green drive shaves more than 5 watts off the consumption of other 1 TB drives, which, according to the company, typically consume about 13.5 watts.

KS = SATA

The extra zero is actually part of the "320" and, hence, is meaningless.

I believe the YS is a drive spec'd for RAID usage (higher MTBF?).
JS isn't PATA (e.g. WD1600AAJS). It means 8 MB cache, whereas KS means 16 MB cache.
