Ok cool. Now I know this is the wrong forum for this -- but do you guys run fanless on your CPU heatsink, or do you use low noise low rpm fans? I was going to get a Scythe Ninja Plus Rev. B at a good price but now I read about mounting horror stories and size issues in the Antec P150. How about the ...

Just checked those sites and the disparity between generic Yate-Loon and Nexus is shocking. 13.99 vs. 3.99, etc. Same fan? Looks to have same model number.

Gotta find a retailer in Canada for that stuff.

So those Nexus fans are Yate-Loons, but marked up in price? I thought the jab-tech site was in the UK so I'd negate any savings with the added shipping cost. Also: what kind of fan do I have to use to improve the noise characteristics of my OCZ ModStream PSU? It uses a 120mm fan but I have no experi...

I see. Thanks. On their website it says that measurements are taken in an anechoic chamber along the 3 axes and then the mean dBA SPL level is stated. I've heard that fans radiate most noise in the straight axis, so measuring off-axis and then averaging out would explain their ridiculously low ratin...

Seriously, are SilenX fans terrible?

I followed a few historical threads about SilenX products, and while it seems that some members of that company were engaged in underhanded activity, all I'm really interested in is the straight dope. These fans have preposterous rated specs -- I don't understand how they are even physically possibl...

I read up on that SilenX stuff, and as far as I can tell, they are on the "sh/t list" because of some shady underhanded forum tactics to promote their products. Is their stuff really bad? Cuz I already have a 80mm SilenX "14 dBA 32cfm" fan on the way to me for my current computer, as a stopgap measu...

Yeah, just finished reading up on the Solo, and I think I'm in love. Also it's much cheaper. I just love the idea of suspension mounts for the HDD's. As for the ModStream, it says it's "whisper quiet" and in my current system I can't really hear the fan noise above the noise of my insane 28.8 dbA 80...

Wow. NCIX is the only place I know that sells both, and I hadn't bothered to check the P150 price there. That P150 seems a little steep considering a P180 can be had for $145. I was hoping that the Solo would be closer to the $85 mark. Apart from the lack of separate "chambers" isolating the PSU, an...

I can't figure out why the Solo (without PSU) seems to be the same price as the P150.

If it were cheaper then the P150 (I'm in Canada) I'd be all over it, because I don't think I can afford a P180 (which would force me to buy a new PSU as well).

W e l c o m e to SPCR! How long are the ATX and the 4-pin 12v cables on your PSU? I'd guess that ~18" is the minimum you'll need? Thanks, it's nice to be here. I guess I'm out of luck... I measured 14.5" at most for the 12V cable. That's really unfortunate as I may have to get another case altogeth...

Antec P180 with OCZ ModStream 450W and Asus P5B Deluxe?

I have spent countless hours deciding on a new case. I am building a new system and need to leverage my existing PSU. I finally decided to forego the window and overclocking potential and just go for a silent PC. The P180 looks like a dream come true. Only the reviews I've read mention that due to P...
