you can buy replacement grommets from antec that are soft silicone, and work quite nicely. i have 2 rackmounted Take 4 casses that came with the hard rubber grommets..replaced with silicone grommets from antec (parts), and i'm very pleased with the dampening.

the obvious way to make the system totally quiet...is to use it as it was intended..stick it in another room, or a "server closet" that has adequate ventilation, and use another quiet computer as your desktop machine, use the server as a server. don't tell me you use this to surf the net and email.....

Gigabyte makes a fanless 8600GTS too with HDCP. If anyone gets that, I'd love to know your video card temps.

i have the gigabyte 8600gts great card the video card temps are in the low to mid 40's when operating. the heatsink gets blazing hot, but that's the whole point. i worried about my system temps (cuz i like to woory and tinker), so i added a undervolted 120mm fan to my case above the PCI slots to imp...

i have the 8600gts passively cooled gigabyte card. it draws about 75 watts it occupies 2 complete slots, and you want good airflow in your case. the picture you have posted is the 8500 model, not the 8600 model. from a recent review article "NVIDIA suggests that GeForce 8600 GTS complete system will...

I offer the following suggestion: Norco DS-1210 or Norco DS-1220 these are rack mountable cases that hold 12 drives (firewire or sata hookup to main computer) the only down side is the noise of the cooloing fans (they are rated at total of 100CFM), which are 3 noisy little buggers.... i replaced the...

if all you want to do it mount your Nexus fans with rubberize/silicone mounts..no need to cut anything..
just get the nexus silicone mounts..they have a long "teat" that will fit through the case just fine..they work very nicely

i have the gigabyte 8600gts. i installed in a rack mounted HTPC system, and placed a "blowhole" above the card with an undervolted Nexus 120mm fan (inaudible). the video card runs 40-41 degrees during typical usage with this setup. i did this because the video card heatsink (which looks like you cou...
