My MythTV system uses ACPI wakeup times to automatically wake itself up after shutting down. Here's a couple links with some more information: http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/index.php/ACPI_Wakeup http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/index.php/Mythwelcome Suspend to ram or disk would be nice as that would reduce ...

I am using MythTV and have configured my system to automatically shutdown at night when no recordings are scheduled. Now my system only runs 12-16 hours a day instead of 24 hours a day. That sounds nifty! Im guessing you cant do it the other way around though and have it turn itself on without spec...

I found a picture of the cabinet: http://www.ikea.com/PIAimages/59493_PE165388_S3.jpg . Ive installed doors but will be taking the backside out for ventilation. The compartments have the measurments: (WxHxD) 32x56x37cm or 12.6x22.5x14.6". I really want this to be a low power system. I was thinking o...

Thanks for the input, but Im having trouble realising why it needs to be up 24/7? Why not just turn it on when I come home and record what I feel like. Sure there will be the odd occasions when I need to record something during the day, but then Ill just turn it on then. And with regards to lots of ...

Thanks for all the help! Im working to get hold on a camera for pictures of the cabinet, but in the meantime Ive made som measurements: 38cm or 15" deep, 56.5cm or 22" wide and 32cm 12.5" high. Its got two compartments and I really wanted to fit it in the one where I keep the stereo, but that probab...

What do you mean by DVR? I mainly want to record programs, and watch movies. I will probably not be saving anything so I wont be needing to convert recordings. Will a picoPSU draw less than a normal PSU? I thought it was just smaller? So if I have the space I thought I might as well use a reg...

You sure you don't want your PSU to suck in fresh air from the other side? Pop another opening there and your PSU will be sucking in fresh cold air constantly instead of having to deal with the air that your CPU warms up. My plan was to use it to create air flow through the chassis. Would I need an...

Home[made] HTPC chassis
Hi there! Ive been reading this fine forum for a couple of weeks, trying to peice together a HTPC. I had finally narrowed the basic parts when I started measuring the cabinet I was going to place the computer in. I was going for a Antec Fusion case, but it became clear it wouldn't fit. Since no othe...
