Put this http://www.quietpc.com/gb-en-gbp/products/harddrivesolutions/quietdrive into this http://www.silentmaxx.de/en/products/silentmaxx-hd-silencer.html and your problems (noise) with your VelociRaptor are gone. :D A nice side effect. The VR stays absolutely cool, without any fan or air circulati...

Untrue. You overestimate how hot these get. They only generate ~4W. How much airflow do you think that would take to cool? That's not what I said. Of, course you need not much cooling. I only said, that the disk gets pretty hot, without heat conduction (SQD or airflow). I bet your 52C reading is on...

Here are the facts: The WD15000BLFS is noisy in a Scythe Quiet Drive 2.5. Any metal box is a bad solution. Just take a sponge and place the disk on it, the disk will be mostly silent. You can only hear a little bit of the seek noise. The seek noise is a real problem. You have to de-couple the hard ...

Ouch! Those results are surprising. That drive performance is significantly different from the "normal" B3 revision drive. I would email WD Support and ask how your drive differs from the other B3 drives. Never mind! I will send it back and wait for the 150 GB VelociRaptor. :) BTW: It seems...

WD3200AAKS-22B3A0 ???
I bought a new WD Caviar Blue harddisk. Since I wanted the single platter edition of the 320 GB harddisk with the part number WD3200AAKS-00B3A0 I was a little bit suprised that I got a harddisk with the number WD3200AAKS-22B3A0. I can't find any information about this harddisk in the internet. Produ...

That seems contraproductive. Why in the world would you want that? If you don't want to remove the frame (because it may may void the warranty), simply get [ the 2.5" version without the frame ]. You probably won't find a 7.2kRPM drive that's as quiet as the 2.5", not to mention as fast. Ok. Since ...

The VelociRaptor is a 2.5" disk. There would be too much room in a 3.5" "SQD" which would result in poor contact and in turn may fry your disk. When you buy a 3.5" version of the "VR" you really just buy the 2.5" disk mounted in a frame. This frame accentuates the noise and vibrations of the drive....

If your signature is up to date, then I'd say your system bottlenecks on amount of RAM. With more ram, the hdd is accessed less often. You are right! But DDR3 ist still pretty expensive. Especially when you are looking for a single 2 GB Module. Since I use Vista 32 Bit there is no much space left. ...

I've read here that you can put it in a Scythe Quiet Drive 2.5" box (if you remove one of the jelly pads). People who don't think the drive is quiet enough when suspended seem to think it is quiet enough while in a Scythe Quiet Drive. If possible, you may want to listen to the drive first and then ...

Fast and silent harddisk, maybe a VelociRaptor
Hello! :) I'm looking for a quiet and fast harddisk for my system. The disk should have a capacity between 160 and 300 GB. I thought about buying a VelociRaptor and putting the drive into a Scythe Quiet Drive. Is this possible? How about the noise level of the VelociRaptor? My system is very quiet. ...

A few weeks ago I was looking for a Harddisk Silencer and Cooler and searched for some products. I found the Silentmaxx HDD-Silencer and thought it must be suitable for my purposes. I have a very silent pc. CPU and GPU are totally passively cooled. My Fans are ultra silent and i have a very silent s...
