Quietest setting for fans on AC Twin Turbo Pro?
Hi guys How do make this cooler produce the least noise? Currently I have connected the fans to the card (XFX HD5850) and fans are at 21% (lowest possible), and while it is very quiet, it is stille the 'loudest' component in my system. Would it be better to use molex-to-7v adaptor? I know that I wou...

Best tool to overclock ATI 5850?
Hi guys I know this forum primarily is about silencing PCs, but I'm sure some of you do a little OC too  After I have put the AC Twin Turbo Pro on my XFX 5850, it is running so cool that I'm sure I can squeeze a little more out of it. Setting the clocks tol 850/1150 in MSI Afterburner doesn...

Re: Undervolting a fan?
Perfect! Thanks for the fast reply! It may not be the most elegant solution, but as a "quick'n'dirty" way to try different combinations 8) Hmmm... this is getting out of hand - first I replaced my HX750 PSU with an AX750 (fan doesn't spin even during load). Then I replaced the cooler on my HD5850 wi...

Undervolting a fan?
Hi Guys I need some advice about undervolting a Nanoxia fan. I currently have a "ULNA" from a Noctua fan on it, but it still spins ar approx. 1100 rpm, and I want it below 800 rpm. Could I use 2 Noctua "LNA" in serial connection? -or even 1 "LNA" and 1 "ULNA"? [The "ULNA" and "LNA" are the short pie...

Re: Installing AC Twin Turbo Pro on my XFX 5850
Just to follow-up... So I finally decided to void my warrenty and swap the cooler :-) Much to my surprise (and joy) there was no seal that needed to be broken in order to remove the stock cooler - in other words, I can easily put the stock cooler back in case I need to RMA the card 8) I was a bit wo...

Re: Installing AC Twin Turbo Pro on my XFX 5850
Are you sure the cooler will fit on the stock 5850? Check if the DVI shield touches it before assemblying, if that's the case, you'll have to cut the lower left fins a bit. I will fit - Arctic Cooling have updated the cooler, so the relevant approx. 12 fins are about 2cm shorter than the others in ...

Installing AC Twin Turbo Pro on my XFX 5850
Hi Guys Everything is ready on my table, just waiting for the operation to begin :D I just have a few quick questions. I plan on keeping the backplate from the reference cooler for the best cooling of the VRMs and RAM (I know a little modding might be needed). I was just wondering whether I should a...

WD 3200AAKS which are single-platter?
Hi Guys I recently bought a WD 3200AAKS and was of course wondering if it was a single or dual platter version. I checked the posts/reviews here, but my drive's revision is not the same as any of the ones described here. Can I find an overview of "Revisions - # of platters" anywhere, or should I jus...

Best way to partition HDD?
Hi Guys I'll be changing OS from XP to Win7 x64 shortly, and after some post in here about having the OS on a separate partition ensuring that the OS is placed at the edge of the drive (=higher speed), I though that might be worth a try... I'll be using a WD 3.5" 3200AAKS 320GB, and it has to hold t...

Re: Fan swapping in Antec 3480 PSU?
BTW. any suggestions on whether the Noctua can be slowed down in the PSU? Planning on connecting the Noctua fan to the MB for power. I haven't understood you. Whether? "Whether" to me means "if". The R8 may be slowed down using the LNA/ULNA supplied adapters (even both at the same time), or using a...

Re: Power connector on ASUS P7H55D M Evo???
Thanks! So if I understand you correct, there is no need for me to use both 4-pin connectors of the PSU if I only use an i3 540 CPU with no OC and no graphics card (use the integrated GPU of the i3 540)? The Antec PSU has the split 4-pin + 4-pin connector, but I have only connected one. System is st...

Power connector on ASUS P7H55D M Evo???
Hi guys! This weekend I completed a build for my dad using the ASUS P7H55D-M Evo (reviewed here: http://www.silentpcreview.com/article1019-page2.html ] Everything works great (and temps and noise are impressive), but one thing made me curious - the "8-pin power connector [2x4]" had halft of the conn...

Re: Where is the noise coming from?
Regarding the slowing down of video card fans: they may NOT, in fact, slow down when you move the slider in some application. I know my Asus 5770 would not go below 30% and my current Gainward won't go below 40%, no matter what it says in Afterburner. You need to verify by monitoring RPM or stoppin...

Re: Where is the noise coming from?
As I from time to time take my PC to LAN parties, I stopped using the soft mount for the HDD - could the noise be vibrations from the HDD (eventhough I did use the silicone grommets)... Could be HDD whining also. If that is the case, suspension will help only slightly—you might need an SQD or simil...

Where is the noise coming from?
Hi Guys Having recently replaced my HX750 PSU for an AX750 I can now hear another noise from my PC (I guess that's how it is), but I can't really seem to identify the source :-( I was quite convinced that it was the fan on the HD5850, but even slowing it from 20% to 10% with MSI Afterburner did not ...

Just one more thought... Would it be possible to place a PSU e.g. a Seasonic x650 or Corsair AX750/850 upside down, having the intake facing upwards, but without cutting the case. Instead making some sort of intake (metal mesh?) in the upper 5.25" drive bay, and and placing a metal/plexi plate on th...
