Re: Asus C8HM70-I/HDMI motherboard (Celeron 847)

Thanks very much for coming back with those figures! Personally a massive disappointment, double the wattage of the Intel NUC and right on a DQ77 board with an i3 etc (Huge price difference aside) I was hoping these would be 10-15w, I've wasted a lot of money on fancy mobile itx boards and processor...

I have a matx GM965 Socket P board with 4Gb ram and a T8300. I am using it as a server and with a Perc 6i SAS controller, 4xWD 1Tb drives and an Intel PCIe nic. I am only drawing 60-65w from the wall at idle, 80-85w under load. I have an older Seasonic 330w PSU, don't remember the exact model but it...

It is probably just the OS, even with server class hardware and a Cisco 3750 switch I never used to see much over 40-50mb/s on Win2k3/XP Vista and Win2k8 support SMB 2 for sharing which is much much faster. With 2008 server on the server and Vista on the client I'm now running 100mb/s+ with a PCI In...

I and probably hundreds of thousands of others have run 'home' servers on regular ram for years with no issues. It may not be right and we may have errors but if so I am not detecting them. In my case I am running Windows 2003 AD, Exchange 2003, HTTP/FTP servers and many other services. I have two R...

This may not be your issue but I used large gauge wire and kept the PSU a very short distance (just 8 inches of cable) from my machine. This raised the 12v line by about a third of a volt. When you pass low voltage but high current over a distance you loose some voltage, this is why the stock Dell c...

Wow, I think that is a good result. I've been hoping I can use the E8xxx in my next server to replace an aging Pentium M and it looks like I can. I have a low power HTPC, Aopen i945gm mobile chipset motherboard with a T5300 Core 2 Duo, 4Gb ram, a 2.5" drive and a Pico PSU. I'm using about 40w at idl...

A few stores are showing it as available in 2-4weeks... (froogle) You have no room in the case for a real card or ADD2 hdmi riser? I'm in a simlar boat but it seems that even with some of these better onboard solutions you have to throw large amounts of CPU at it for a smooth decode, it becomes wast...

Liteon are mostly short but when I needed one I went to an OEM shop and measured a whole bunch of drives. Shortest was a Samsung, I seem to remember it measured a little under the quoted 170mm.

Ah, so you are using tidy kit then :p Been looking for a DA-10 myself, just too many other projects on the go. If you have drives then I guess it does not hurt to use them as planned. I actually spin my drive down and use everything from the network, I have two Nexus Real Silent fans @ 7v, I cannot ...

I have just done something similar but used a 1.8ghz Pentium Mobile and a Pico PSU. I'm running passive with a cooler from an old Dell, foobar even with src won't really be pushing it hard - it will stay pretty cool. I'm also running a DVB-t card and a DVD drive along with a temporary Nvidia FX5200....
