First I guess I'd ask why you feel you need so many fans. I have a P35-DS3P and have three fans running off the mobo, 2 120mm (1 S-Flex D, 1 S-Flex E), and a 92 mm (Nexus Real Silent). They are sufficient for cooling and my S-Flex E, and Nexus seldom run at full speed. I'm sorry to borrow this thre...

Just my $0.02.. I recently completed a build (my first) and used the same RAM and mobo you selected. They worked like a charm and I had no problems with POST or inital boot-up. It's been about a month now and I'm still running fine. I think you'll be very happy. FWIW, I went with a Thermalright Ulti...

The Scythe D is a good choice for the back. I'd originally started with an E, but the fan header that you'd use for the exhaust can't be moderated via software - the fan runs full speed, all the time (unless you undervolt or use a controller, neither of which I wanted to do). The D quieted things do...

What about running a Scythe S-Flex D as your exhaust? If your suffering the same problem as me (i.e. the system fan header for the exhaust fan is not adjustable by software) why not plug in a D? Provided you get a good one, it will only run at 800rpm and you don't have to worry about undervolting. I...

I just installed an Ultima 90, though I should preface this post with the fact that it is the FIRST and ONLY heatsink I've ever installed. Overall, I think installation wasn't too bad, though there was the odd hiccup. When I was installing the base plate, I found you had to be careful screwing the s...

Thanks again for your help and suggestions.. here's a shot of Speedfan running after my install (Core temps adjusted +15C). Everything look ok? I'm also trying to figure out how to slow down the exhaust fan as it's running at full speed and is typically the noisiest component (thus far). If anyone h...

Thanks.. you're helping calm some of those fears! I picked up Arctic Cooling MX-2.. I don't think it dries like some of the others. From what I understand, there's no curing process. At any rate, I'll go ahead with the installation and take a peak at what my temps are. If they're running high, I'll ...

I can feel the ridges with my fingernail, though they seem relatively fine. I checked flatness with a straightedge and the base seems ever so slightly convex, which I figured was okay since I've heard Intel chips are often concave. I'll try the paste check though. A question.. doing that, can I just...

Circular grooves on the base of my Ultima-90.. worrysome?
I've got just about all of my components and am gearing up for a build this weekend. On inspection of my Ultima-90, I noticed circular grooves on the surface of the base. Obviously, they're part of the machining process, but I'm wondering if you guys can take a look at some photos I took and tell me...

So.. after so many months, I finally ordered. I have yet to receive my parts, but this is what I settled on: CASE: Antec Solo PSU: Corsair HX520W or HX620W (buying this locally in case of the coil buzz issue) MOTHERBOARD: Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3P PROCESSOR: Intel e6750 CPU COOLER: Thermalright Ultima-90...

I know it beats the 8800GTS 320 in benchmarks, but I picked one up on a good deal a few months back (haven't bought the system for it yet). Do you guys think that they could still release some drivers that would push the GTS further - or am I sitting on a brand new, underperforming card? Well the 8...

Remember - just because you can fit a 120mm on the Ultima90 doesn't mean you can fit a larger heatsink. Given case design, the position of the fan (and it's accompanying height, could be fine, though a larger heatsink just wouldn't fit. From what I've heard about the Ultima-90, it seems like an exce...

OK.. reviving things somewhat. I've looked around for an answer but am still uncertain. The 8800GTS I want to install requires 26A off a 12volt rail. From what I've seen, it seems that the TOTAL amperage of my 12V rails needs to exceed this to be compliant; so, do I need to tie in two rails to suppo...

I think the fact that the p150 offers slightly better cable routing options (via removable right AND left panels), integrated HD suspension, and the opportunity to select your own PSU make it the winner over the Sonata. That said, I think the Sonata III edges it out slightly in aesthetics, but that'...

More and more, it's looking like I won't need anything more than PC2-6400 RAM since I won't even touch the extra bus speed available. Thanks for the advice! I likely won't go with water cooling. Truth be told, it's unlikely I'll OC; at least significantly. The reason I'm thinking about it is it seem...

Apologies for the double post.. but a question regarding OC'ing. Should I go with something like the e6600 that would have a lower FSB but higher multiplier, or the e6750 with a higher FSB but lower multiplier? If I actually OC the system (which I appreciate is somewhat contrary to the overall goal ...

Well, it was more of a perceived "best-of-both-worlds" solution, utilizing the small drive for the OS partition.. the configuration in that regard would have been a 2 x 80GB + 1 x 500GB. Sounds like 2 x 500GB with an OS partition on each would be better, though Max doesn't like that idea. Either way...
