780G article revision announcement
We apologize for any confusion this may have caused, and assure our readers that this updated review is a more accurate representation of our impression of the board, and its overall performance. Are you kidding? I not only forgive you--I *applaud* you! Regardless of the tech snafus, the 780G piece...

<Somehow I get the impression this case setup just cannot handle the heat from a high-power system......without major modifications. Perhaps it's time for a new "favorite" SPCR case.> I bought an Antec P182 for myself at the same time I got a new Antec Nine Hundred for my avid-gamer teenaged son. Bo...

<Is your middle intake at the front of the case (without the upper cage) or attached to the rear of the upper cage?> I use only the front fan position with the upper cage acting as a duct, even though airflow is hampered by the filter immediately in front of the fan. I’m leery of the rear fan posi...

Antec P182 airflow mods that work...
I went through the same exercise with my Antec P182 case as several of you have, including cutting away the middle front intake metal grille, and "thinning" with a dremel tool the plastic horizontal grille bars that severely restrict air flow through the middle front intake fan door. Even with these...

Thanks for clearing up the Gigabyte "noise" question, Jason W. I've got a new Asus AM2 board with coils that whine annoyingly, but my Gigabyte P35-DQ6 is completely silent. I've read exactly one review that knocked the Gigabyte's HD audio sound quality, but it sounds very good to me (even though I s...

Gigabyte puts a lot more design and a lot less gimmick than Asus into their motherboards right now, and I have not yet had any problems with any of their products...It's stable like gravity. It may arguably also be a pseudo-force, as well. I agree with Max. I've been a longtime Asus fan until I rec...
I've been using this board for the past two weeks with the onboard video driving a HP LP3065 at 2560x1600, and can report it works fine, including fullscreen playback of HD .wmv clips (I don't play games).
This is great news! Unfortunately, I just advised somebody elsewhere in t...

The AMD 690 series is the first of some great MATX-sized HTPC-oriented motherboards to come from AMD/ATI, but I would be leery of expecting acceptable performance from a 25x16 display with the current generation onboard graphics. Like others pointed out here, the ATI X2400 card would be the lower th...

IMO, it's preferable NOT to have the hot components on a motherboard all tied together. Large effective individual heatsinks should be just as effective with high airflow and considerably safer with low airflow. My 2 cents. Hmmm...that line of reasoning is worth a damn sight more than 2 cents, Mike...

Is it safe to assume that the Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme wouldn't fit on this board? It's 132mm wide compared to the HR-01's 110mm width. They're otherwise close in size. One caution, christopher3393. Unlike the Thermalright HR-01, I noticed from Web photos that the Ultra 120's outer fins seem ...

You'll need to confirm this with Thermalright tech support, but if the height from the base of the Ultra 120 cooler to the b...

Well, it seems the BIOS upgrade from F4 to beta F5g fixed the reported high system temps on this particular Gigabyte P35-DQ6 motherboard. Temps went from 50C to 40C at idle. No other changes noted from the BIOS upgrade. Since the system temps are now in line with what I've seen from other featured P...

<Did you noticed the same temps prior to applying the as5? Since the cpu isnt givin that much heat i'd say try without the duct and see if it improves the airflow over the mobo sinks.> <Perhaps you need more air moving over the heatsinks and a more direct way to exhaust it? Are you using the top fan...

Thanks for the reply, ryboto. Yes, 50C is the average idle temp, and it's gone up as far as 60C under load. Note the CPU temp hovers around 25-30C - almost half the system temp - using the "semi-passive" Thermalright HR-01 tower heatsink connected by the included duct to the rear 120mm Antec Tricool...

Ultra-cooled Gigabyte P35-DQ6 overheating? How can this be?
Had my new DQ6 in a well-ventilated Antec P182 case for about two weeks now, and system temps have consistently hovered in the 50C range, with mild OC 6420 CPU temps staying in the 25C range with a duct-cooled Thermalright HR-01 using the stock Intel clips to retain the unique "Crazycool" underneath...
