Re: Asus P5Q-EM G45 mATX motherboard

This has become my Dad's PC, 10 years later. I'm noticing the NorthBridge heatsink hits 75C under load (albeit this is with a C2Q 9500 and all 4 memory banks @ 2.1V). I'm thinking it's going to need more airflow. If the heatsink is 75C the chip itself must be at least 85C. Also, I don't see a valid...

Hi BillyBuerger, I saw your good works with these two Dell psu. I've a ~20W AC system (AsRock AliveNF7g-HDReady, Athlon X2 4850e, 2.5" drive 7200rpm) supplied by an 80w DC-DC picopsu style and a 60w external brick (Apextech MW-100 case) --> http://www.apextechusa.com/products.asp?pID=157 http://imag...

It is only -0.10 volts max undervolt for CPU, but at least it is something. They also added more RAM voltages. I wonder if a BIOS hack would allow less. But, I guess another way to save power is to under-clock it. I ordered a GF9300-G-E board, and I will put in it an E3200. I do not have a power me...

since 8200-itx review I'm curious about the Asus BC-1205PT drive additional idle power consumption to the whole system, can you tell us? :wink:

SFX and games' platforms

I'd make a HT/Game PC with a slim-fit micro-ATX case, I've found the right case yet but it fits only SFX psu So what about power and noise of this kind of PSU? The Seasonic SS-300SFD reviewed here at SPCR for esample can nominally grant 8A on 12V1 and 14.5A on 12v2, a total of 270 watt combined (22....

Akasa Power80+ 400W... instability at low cpu power usage

I've a problem with this PSU: Akasa Power80+ Green 400 watt it is an 80+ Bronze and in fact I've measured very low power consumption with my system: AMD AthlonX2 4850e Asrock AliveNF7g-HDReady (Geforce 7050PV) 1x2Gb Team Group DDR2-800 WD Caviar GP 750 Gb idle Win XP 1Ghz@1.00V -> 24 watt the issue:...

Pico-120WI-25V... is less efficient than the normal 120?

Hi guys, I'm going to buy a Pico 120 watt the WI version has the plus that it is compatible with many power bricks over the standard 12 volt, like for example those of the notebooks. But I have a doubt: is the WI version less efficient than the normal one? are there other differences between the two...

Speaking from my experience with the Asus 780G board you are not likely to reach your goal of under 40W playing high compression rate files. For one thing, my board with a BE2350 idles at around 35-37W at 1GHz. Any task that requires GPU or CPU can easily put the power consumption over 40W. The 780...

According to this Tom's test --> http://www.tomshardware.com/2008/03/04/ ... age14.html
..the difference in idle between a Sempron and an Athlon X2 can't be so hight..
in this test even the X2 consumes less power than the 90nm Sempron (I suppose Manila core)

what do you think?

From this tests it seems that it's very difficult to go below 30 watts, even using a pico PSU and a 2.5" drive maybe power can drop about 10 watts (reaching 30/31) a guy from Silenthardware.de reached an amazing consumption of 16.5 watts as you can see here --> http://www.silenthardware.de/forum/ind...
