"Is Texas going back to the caveman era?" The flaw in your reasoning and question is that Texas can not go "back" to something that it never evolved out of in the first place. And I second Redzo's remarks about the christian taliban. Many years ago, when the fundamentalist Iranians' had taken over t...

Have you looked at or for the Lian Li sound dampening kits? Here is a link to them at a US internet retailer. Maybe some of the more experienced guys here can comment on these kits. If they are good, I might buy one to further quiet down my Lian Li PC-A10A. http://www.frozencpu.com/cat/l3/g43/c241/s...

Micro$oft loses appeal over patents
According to the Associated Press, a federal appeals court has just ruled against Microsoft in their appeal of a verdict in Texas. In the Texas case Microsoft was infringing on a patent owned by Canadian firm i4i, the jury gave i4i $290 million (US$). The jury found that recent versions of Word viol...

Looks like the low power/low spindle speed version of their 500G/platter drive. Basically a ST3500410AS or ST3500418AS (both 7200 rpm, 500G/platter drives) detuned to operate at 5900 rpm and save energy and be quiet. One .pdf file at www.seagate.com that describes it has a date of June 2009, so I do...

My case is a different Lian Li, bu the principle should be the same. Yes, there is a way to suspend them in the 3.5" bays. Use some elastic cord twisted around the hard drive. You may need to drill out the rails that the rubber washers are supposed to do, but it is easy and works well. Made a very b...

Just today I found this web site from a manufacturer of ultra-high-end kitchens who, apparently is in partnership with ultra-high-end appliance manufacturer Miele: http://www.siematic.com/s1page/index_en.html Looks like just what Intel is looking for, and is pretty imp...

Thanks to all who offered opinions and thought about Bosch appliances in the other thread I started. Went to local Bosch dealer on Friday, 7/3. Was not Lowe's or any such huge chain, but a small local dealer with a very, very good reputation for treating customers well, regardless of what they spend...

But in general, Bosch's are like Hondas, well-built and reliable. Interesting analogy. My lawn mower is a 13 year old Craftsman with a Honda engine. Have changed the oil in that thing maybe 3 times in 13 years, the sparkplug once, and only cleaned the air filter 3 or 4 times. Starts right up on the...

It is difficult to understand why there are no reliable programs to read TJ Max, it is a value set in a register by Intel at the time of the chip's manufacture. It is a simple matter to write a program in assembler that will read the register. I tend to trust CoreTemp. While my memory is pretty bad,...

Bosch kitchen appliances - experience/opinions?
Do any of you have any experience with Bosch kitchen appliances? Especially the in-wall ovens (800 and 500 series), and dishwashers (800 and 800 plus series). We are going to have to renovate our kitchen, and I have been studying appliances. The Bosch ones look very good, for appliances that are bar...

I'm still not comfortable with just assuming that your software is misreading your temps unless you can get some direct reading from the side of the IHS or the side of the bottom of the Minja to provide better data. God forbid something is actually wrong and your software is reporting accurate temps...

. . . I'm inclined to conclude that there's nothing wrong with neither the IHS or HSF hardware. It gotta be a calibration problem. So far, the data seems to point in that direction. When you remove and reseat the heatsink, are you cleaning the old TIM off properly, off of both the heatsink and the IHS? A quick scan of some of the comments on the mini-ninja, which I assume is what you have, at Newegg, shows that average idle temps are well below what you are getting. Those temps you are getting look awfully high, especially for an E4400, especially if it is running at 1 volt. I'd be concerned about why my cpu temp(s) were so high in the first place. Your cooler is letting your cpu temps at idle go up nearly 20 C above ambient. That is unacceptable. 10 degrees C ...

I'm guessing some of the verbosity comes from assignments in school where you have to write a 1200 word paper and after you have said everything you want to say, you are only at 1100 words. So you just add another hundred descriptors and call it even. 8) Not with the English professors that I had. ...
