Re: SilverStone Precision PS07: Budget MicroATX Tower

I just bought one of these too. Very flimsy feeling from the factory compared to Antec cases. I put some sound insulation in mine and doubled the weight (feels like it). I'm still buying the components to put in there, but some other truths that people are saying. It uses a lot of screws, some of th...

Re: Mike's final sign-off

Thanks for all of the great reviews, guides, recommendations and such. I was very happy when I found this website and I learned a few things. I don't post very much, but I do read quite a bit. Please considering attempting to merge into http://techreport.com/ They do have some rowdy members, but in ...

I don't read this forum too much, but I was sort of shopping for my next PSU and I saw this one. My other computers have Seasonic PSUs in them. I might go with one of these for the next build.

Maybe it's your paging file? You can set which drives you want to use for that in the system control panel. My Vista computer is off right now, but I think it's the same with XP and Vista. Also make sure the cache for the browser and all of it's files are on the 2.5" drive. Clear your MRU file lists...

this one is cheaper -- but I think overkill for what you want: http://www.zzounds.com/item--BEHXENTX802 I have one of the Behringer mixers. It's OK, but it's a space heater, picks up Mexican radio sometimes and has the lame blue LED syndrome. It works though. Look at the inputs and outputs and make...

Too hot

The C2D 8400 was a good choice for me. I think the Tech Report shows how capable the 8600 is against the quad core chips. They overclock easily if I get desperate. Plus, not too much heat. :) I'm down to a 4850e and the 8400. I could easily get away with two 4850e chips, if I had to. AMD and Intel n...

I bought Vista x64 Ultimate after SP1 came out. I figured most of the bugs had been worked out by then. I tried it on my C2D system I had just built and I had nothing but problems. It didn't like my video card, scanner or 4GB of RAM during the install. I gave up and went to XP Pro. I later figured o...

I'm doing something similar right now. I should be done already, but my motherboard was probably bad, my RAM was definitely bad (1 of 2 sticks) and I broke the stupid little plastic clips on the heatsink. DDR3 is a total waste right now. DDR2 is cheaper and higher density too, I think. Almost no per...

I have an older Brother HL-5070DN. It idles silently, but when it prints it makes some noise. The fans and motors are quite loud, but it sits idle more than it prints. Cool man, thanks for the results. Can you report your mem timings and final mem core rate (i.e. 5-5-5-15 @ 400 MHz) Also who makes your motherboard? I never heard of a 6150 chipset. Sure. nVidia made the chipset. Similar to the 6100 and, from what I've read, the 7025 and 7050 chipsets. It's Kingsto...

yes

You can do it, but you'll probably need to cut some metal and probably lose the air filter. That's nice to know. But, it's probably not worth the effort.

I just happen to have an open Solo and a ruler next to me. Otherwise I wouldn't have posted.

I'm just finishing building a Solo system. I built a P150 system 1-2 years ago. NEITHER of them lined up with the floppy/card readers. These are two different drives from different companies. Antec is either giving us a puzzle to play with or they're forgetting to drill a few holes. I used an electr...
