Calling to report I chose convenience and bought the MGE Ellipse MAX 1100VA unit. It is almost absolutely silent: While it was charging the battery it emitted a very high pitched whine which one has to listen carefully to make out. Once the battery charged I can hear a slight buzz only when I press ...

My case came with exactly this type of feeble unshielded wire soldered to the front panel jack. It runs through the entire case passing near most of the hardware. Until I discovered the cause I could listen through the headphones to a unique hardware symphony. For example every time a loaded 3D scen...

Last fridy I wrote to Altec Lansing's support asking them about the hiss and the ups. I got the reply just now and very surprisingly (to me at least) they directly offer me to replace the unit. Maybe the phrase "clearly audible hiss" made the difference - I don't know :P The strange thing is that th...

I wrote to APC asking about the noise of the Smart family and this is their replay about the line-interactive Smart XL 1000VA unit: "If you check the product specification sheet on our website from the following link, we says that the audible noise at 1 meter from surface of the unit is 42 dBA http:...

Is this thread still alive? I'm looking for a silent UPS myself. It is critical that it be inaudiable because i'll be sleeping about 3 feet from it. And you know how even the slightest noise becomes a real nuisance at hight :) So far I'm looking at 3 models. I'm listing them in order of preference: ...

Hmm....well I use the Corsair 520 HX PSU so I think I'm okay. Bought it because it was SPCR recommended. Besides the noise does not seem to change whatever I do so I think if anything it must be the power. I read somewhare that sound equipement needs to get a good "zero power" reference in order to ...

Thanks for the advice. Sadly it didn't work. I unplugged everything except the sepakers and played with the volume like you said. What I discovered was that the hiss is almost absolutely constant from volume 0 all the way through to the maximum. I reduced the treble and bass to 0 as well and nothing...

Can the Altec Lansing MX5021 hiss be cured by a UPS?

Hello fellow forumgoers, Recently I bought an Altec Lansing MX5021 2.1 set. Even before buying I read numerous review where there were complaints about a hiss from the satellites when no music is playing. Most if not all of the revieweres said they were using the on board sound so I assumed I will f...

I plan to silence my machine later down the road and I have pretty much the same standard setup inside my Gigabyte Triton case. This issue with the back grill got me scared that my case is hopeless for a silent PC (and it's brand new and I don't plan on switching it any time soon) So does this back ...

That's an interesting nickname Rinswind! Read a lot of Terry Pratchett? To continue this off-topic diversion for a bit longer: Yeah I've read some....all of it actually ;) When I was first going online 7-8 years ago I did some head scrathing and though - better this than "mutant-zombie-robot from o...

Check out the main Gigabyte site. There is no BIOS listed for the rev. 2.0 so I am guessing you cannot get the 2.0 board until they at least put up the BIOS (download) for it. Happy to report that as of today the BIOS download for the rev 2.0 of P35-DS3R is available on the gigabyte site. And it se...
